Chapter 1323: Light Magic In Action
Other than being called the Saintess by practically the entire school, there were two more reasons why Safa stood out, not just among the top students, but in the eyes of the teachers as well.
One of those reasons was the fact that she possessed the God Eyes.
Not much was known about the God Eyes, apart from what they were able to do.
But even from the descriptions alone, any mage could understand how spectacular this ability was, to be able to see the pure flow of energy and mana itself.
With the God Eyes, one could grow their mana more easily, control it with greater precision, and see through magic circles and situations before others even grasped what was happening.
It was a rare trait, one that only appeared among Light Mages. And even then, it was something that only one in a hundred thousand Light Mages might ever experience.
From the history books of Alterian, those who had possessed the God Eyes had always played pivotal roles in shaping the nation’s history.
Lastly, there was one more factor that made Safa truly stand out, she was one of only two students who had ever been able to obtain artifacts from the school’s weapons room.
There was a good chance this was due to her God Eyes as well. Either way, it was further proof of just how special Safa was.
And now, in this moment, she was wielding that very artifact in her hand.
“You know, that fancy little trick of yours is only going to work once!” Yolden shouted as twirling storms of wind erupted from both of her arms.
The winds moved like two giant serpents, crashing into the walls around Safa, narrowly missing her. Then, the vortexes started drawing closer and closer, heading straight toward where Safa currently stood.
Without hesitation, Safa moved, heading straight toward one of the wind vortexes.
Her Light Magic began to radiate outward, and as she focused her energy, her mind drifted back to a particular lesson, a conversation she’d had with Diana.
“You want to know what this artifact does?” Diana had asked as they sat in the nurse’s office.
“Well, technically, for the weapons and artifacts students select, they’re meant to figure out what they do for themselves,”Diana had said with a small smile. “Then again… we’re talking about a school that never once sent me a willing assistant. You’re my savior, so of course, I’ll tell you.”
Now, back in the present, the large orb-like artifact in Safa’s hand began to glow as she channeled her Light Energy into it.
The wind attack hurtled toward her, but with the orb positioned in front of her, the wind began to redirect. It almost looked as if the attack was being absorbed by the orb itself.
I know that orbs are typically used for defensive magic… but for it to absorb my attack completely? I’ve never seen or heard of anything like this! Yolden thought in disbelief.
As the attack dissipated entirely, Safa darted to the side, slipping past the vortex with graceful speed.
Seeing this, Yolden unleashed another wind strike in front of her. But Safa stopped just in time, letting the attack slam harmlessly into the wall.
“WHOA!” someone in the crowd shouted, clearly impressed.
Damn it, Safa thought, clicking her tongue. I used part of my Warrior senses and skills to dodge that strike out of habit. If this goes on, I might reveal myself. I need to end this now.
With determination in her eyes, Safa suddenly turned, charging straight toward Yolden.
Yolden blinked in surprise. Up until now, she’d been the one chasing Safa. Not the other way around.
As Safa moved in, the orb began to glow even brighter. Her thoughts flickered once more to Diana’s explanation.
“I’m afraid,” Diana had said, “although this is a powerful artifact, it’s only helpful in the right hands. For Light Mages like us… it might not be the best fit.”
“You see, what this does is store types of magic inside. You can place your Light Magic into it, then hand it to someone else, allowing a mage who can’t normally use Light Magic to do so.”
“It’s useful as an extra healing artifact, and as a way to store mana,”
Diana continued. “Most mages use it as an extra supply while fighting, kind of like a battery.”
Safa had been surprised to hear this. With her God Eyes, she could see just how powerful the item truly was. Using it onlyas a storage unit seemed like a waste, there had to be more to it.
“Are there any other uses?” Safa had asked.
“There are,” Diana had admitted. “But honestly, in most cases… it’s not very useful.”
“You see, it can store not just the user’s magic, but other magic as well.”
“However, no one really does this, because it requires twice the amount of mana. You need mana to activate the item initially… and more mana to sustain it, especially if you want to absorb attacks in battle.”
“In most cases, a mage would simply block an attack using a spell of equal strength, rather than waste so much mana absorbing it this way.”
But Safa had her own idea.
Unlike others, she could maintain a meditative state, constantly taking in and circulating mana. Because of her cultivation, she had a much larger mana pool than most.
And thanks to everything that had happened to her, her reserves were immense.
Lastly, her mastery of Light Magic was absolute. It was the only type of magic she used, giving her unmatched focus.
“I’m sorry!” Safa shouted as the orb lit up once more.
A massive vortex of wind burst forth, Yolden barely had time to react as the force struck her square in the stomach, lifting her off her feet and slamming her into the wall with a resounding crash.
The tornado kept raging, until it finally broke apart in a flash of lightning from above.
And standing on the field now was Panla.
“The winner is… Safa!” Panla declared.

Chapter 1324: The Dangerous Rankings
The match was over.
Although Yolden wasn’t badly hurt, the teachers, including Panla, had seen enough.
Yolden was already an impressive Wind Mage; her position in the rankings was secure. She had demonstrated skills far beyond what most students could produce.
And then there was Safa. Even now, as she stood on the field, there wasn’t a single mark on her body, and it was all thanks to her Light Magic.
Watching the match, the others couldn’t shake the feeling that even if the two had fought until one of them ran out of mana… Safa would still be standing there without a scratch.
The teachers had been waiting to see if Safa could do more than just heal, and she had delivered.
After an attack as powerful and mysterious as the one she had just performed, an attack that even Yolden herself didn’t fully understand, this felt like the perfect moment to call the match.
“You did well, Yolden,” Panla told her warmly. “But each of these transfer students… they’re monsters in their own right.”
Yolden got back on her feet, though she was clearly unsatisfied with the result. Without a word, she began making her way back.
Meanwhile, Safa wore a bright smile.
She now knew she had secured a seat by Raze’s side for the Academy, and on top of that, she had discovered new ways to help him as well.
I’ve grown stronger, she thought proudly.
As Safa made her way off the field, she found herself walking nearly side by side with Yolden.
Without warning, a warm glow began to rise from Safa, radiating outward. Yolden immediately felt her aches and pains begin to fade from her body.
“Why do you have to be so nice too?” Yolden asked with a sigh, pausing to glance at Safa. “Alright… I lose. You can have Raze all to yourself.”
“To myself?” Safa blinked, her face turning red. “I think… you might be misunderstanding. Raze is my brother.”
For some reason, the moment Yolden heard those words, the sadness she had felt from losing began to ease, just a little.
“Ah, so that’s the relationship between you two,” Yolden said, smiling now. “Well, alright, little sister. It’s a shame I lost to you… but I guess that’s just how life goes, right, sister?”
She gave Safa a playful wink before heading off.
From the sidelines, Chiba watched her dear friend curiously, wondering how someone could look so happy after experiencing a loss.
Since the top five students and the transfer students had been seated close together, and the match-ups required them to regularly cross paths on the way back, it wasn’t long before the group was all gathered once again.
That didn’t stop Liam from cheering loudly for his teammate.
“Haha! Look at that, that’s great, right?” Liam grinned. “With two of us beating the top students, we’re definitely going to be part of the Magical Exchange!”
“All we need to do is keep beating the top students,” he added confidently.
“Hey!” Chiba shouted from behind. “Some of us don’t plan on losing to you guys, you know! Raze was a given if he went up against anyone but Piba… but remember, you still have to go through me. And Piba!”
Chiba was ranked second, and Piba ranked first. Even though neither of them had shown much of their abilities in the combat classes yet, they hadn’t needed to. And there was still one more name to consider.
“What are you all talking about so energetically?” Yolden asked, rejoining the group. “Are you talking about my loss?”
Chiba folded her arms.
“For someone who lost, you sure do look happy,” she remarked. “But I guess it’s guaranteed you’re going to the Magical Exchange anyway, at least for the next assessment. No reason to be sad.”
“Everyone was just talking about how weak we are compared to the transfer students,” Piba said from behind, chuckling.
It was an odd thing for Piba to say, and the way he said it almost made it sound as if he was siding with the transfer students.
“We keep getting matched up with them,” he added. “It’s almost like the teachers created a separate lot and tournament just for us.”
Safa didn’t say anything, but with her God Eyes, she could see
that this was exactly the case.
Though the match-ups had appeared random, there was a subtle spell in place, one that ensured the top five students and the five transfer students would be pitted against one another.
Clearly, the teachers wanted to see something, and they were forcing the draw to make that happen.
“I think you’re all forgetting someone,” Chiba spoke up. “There’s Londo!”
“Oh, right! There’s him as well,” one of the students said. “Londo… I think whoever ends up going against him is going to have a really difficult time.”
“Londo? Who’s Londo?” Beatrix asked.
“He’s the current fourth-ranked student,” Piba explained. “But his position is… a little strange.”
“He’s never shown more than he needs to. Every assessment, he passes with ease. Every written or practical exam, same story. Even in sparring assessments, he always chooses the safest option. But here’s the thing: he’s never lost. And he’s never failed.”
Piba’s gaze swept over the group.
“So if he does go up against you transfer students, no matter how special you are, I don’t think he’ll fail either. Not even against you, Raze,” Piba said with a knowing smile.
For the top-ranked student to admit that… it was certainly something.
But they would all just have to wait and see.
More matches continued to take place in between, and now the tournament was winding down. There weren’t many match-ups left.
Finally, a name was called from the group.
“Liam… will be going up against… Londo!“

Chapter 1325: The Special Student
Safa already knew, at least one of them would be going up against that Londo student. And honestly, it was probably for the best that it turned out to be Liam.
Out of everyone else, with his highly enchanted weapon and his system, Liam was the one who could pull off the most magic-like moves without giving anything away. He had a way of blending in, making it seem as though his abilities were purely magical.
Out of all the top students, Londo was also the one sitting apart from the others, alone, as he made his way down toward the arena.
“Well, well, well,” Chiba said with a bright smile stretching across her face. “Looks like we might finally get our first win on our side. I was starting to get depressed thinking all of the transfer students were going to best us. No offense.” She quickly added the last part, glancing at Yolden.
“Hey, I think I would’ve lost against Safa, too,” Chiba admitted with a shrug. “It’s just one of those things. But I really do think Londo will win, he always does.”
“Hey.” Liam spoke up, grinning. “You’re looking at someone who’s been counted out more times than I can remember. But every time, I rise to the top and prove them all wrong.”
He paused, letting that hang in the air.
“How many times could I have died by now, and yet here I am.”
With that, Liam turned and started walking down toward the stage, leaving the ranked students slightly confused by his words.
“How many times could he have died?” Yolden asked, puzzled. “Did he… have a rough life or something?”
“We all… went through our struggles,” Raze answered quietly before anyone else could speak. “You might think we’re talented, or that it was easy for us to get here. But the truth is, we went through a lot. That’s why we’re as strong as we are.”
Hearing Raze speak with that weight in his voice, no one questioned it any further.
“All right, who do you think is going to win this one?” Redrick asked. “My bet’s on Londo.”
“Oh, I can see why,” Luka replied. “Londo’s never failed at anything he’s been tasked with. I believe we haven’t even seen the limit of his strength. Honestly… I think he could even best Piba if they were matched.”
“The student’s really that special?” Wilton asked, surprised.
“There’s something about him,” Luka said. “Almost as if, if you were to imagine what a perfect mage
would look like, it’d be Londo. At times, I swear… it feels like he evolves mid-match.”
“Evolves so fast,” Luka added, “that he can overcome any situation.”
“I think you’re all counting out the transfer student too fast,” Panla spoke up. “Originally, we all thought he cheated on that test, no one doubted it. But truth be told, since he got here, he’s done things even beyond my understanding.”
She crossed her arms.
“He was accepted by the enchanted wand. He’s been able to complete complex magical formations. He hasn’t failed at any task since arriving. I’d say… this is a very good match-up between the two.”
Both Liam and Londo had now entered the arena from opposite sides. The ring lit up, ready to begin at any moment.
For now, I’ll just use the wand, Liam thought, pulling out the enchanted weapon.
If things get tough, I’ll pull out the sword and strike with that. But I’m pretty sure, with my system and the wand, I’ll be able to predict where he’s going to be and break through all of his defenses.
Just then, as Liam glanced toward Londo, and the crowd, he noticed a message popping up in his system.
Oh, that’s right. There was that task Raze gave all of us, Liam remembered. To say that phrase to all the students. I was logging the information with the system… and I added everyone the others asked about, too.
Another message blinked.
It’s telling me now, Londo is the only one we haven’t asked yet. Well… might as well ask now and complete it properly. Otherwise, the notification’s going to bug me forever.
The glow around both combatants dimmed. Liam raised his arm, and with a swift motion, swung it downward. His wand unleashed a powerful, loud lightning strike.
Both the students and the teachers gasped in surprise. They hadn’t expected so much power from a single strike. They naturally assumed it was coming from Liam’s vast Mana, but that wasn’t the case. The strike had been amplified by Liam’s Qi, infused into the swing.
“Fear the Unseen!” Liam shouted.
The students around the arena blinked, murmuring. Was that… a spell? Some of them swore they had heard those words somewhere before, but couldn’t quite place it.
Maybe Liam’s warning Londo, others thought, telling him to fear unseen attacks that are coming next.
Meanwhile, Raze stood watching the situation unfold, arms crossed.
Well, he thought, I guess that’s one way to deliver the phrase. No doubt they’ll approach Liam after this.
Since there was no response from Londo, Liam followed up with another strike, swinging the lightning wand once more.
But this time, Londo raised his arm and subtly redirected the strike, conducting the attack along the outside of his blazer, harmlessly away from his body.
Then Londo dashed forward, a powerful gust of wind pushing behind him.
Liam’s eyes narrowed. Using his system, he kept tracking Londo’s movements, firing lightning strike after lightning strike. But just like before, Londo somehow blocked or deflected every single one.
When Londo closed the distance, Liam swung his wand downward, but the lightning struck nothing but the ground.
He’s right by my side now, Liam realized. But if I swing again, they’ll know it’s not pure magic.
Then, Londo leaned in close, so close that only Liam could hear him.
“For we are always near,” Londo whispered.
