Chapter 1:A New Life
I never thought the humans would be able to do it, but it seems like they have finally succeeded in defeating me.

Me…the one and only Great Dragon Sen.

They tried and tried again and after 1000 years, they finally succeeded.

That witch…who was she?

Was there always someone that powerful among them?

I couldn’t remember the exact details of the events that happened before my death. I guess it’s the old age. I remember the humans were always out to get me. Whenever I would find a place to call home, humans would come and attack for no reason.

They chased and chased my kind.

They killed my friends, my family, everyone I loved until I was the only one left. With nothing and no one left, I could only return the favour.

An eye for an eye as the humans would say. I heard a human shout that phrase at me as he was attacking me one time.

But it’s over now. I can finally rest in peace.

As I was finally coming to terms with my death, I started to hear strange noises entering my head.

“It’s a boy, a beautiful baby boy!”

I wanted to shout at whoever was ruining my final moments of rest.

What happened? Wasn’t I meant to finally move on?

“Look at him. He’s so cute!”

Cute?! Who would dare call Sen the almighty dragon cute?

I tried to take a look at the fools who would be taking their last breaths.

As I finally found the strength to open my eyes, two blurry figures started to come into my view. Slowly my blurry vision started to clear. At last I was able to see in front of me.

It was a human. A female human, I started to examine her closely as I had never seen a human this close before. She had long black hair with an egg-shaped face. Under her eyes were two huge black bags, but even though she looked tired she couldn’t help but smile. The thing that shocked me the most was how gigantic this woman was.

Was this hell? Was I being tortured by giant humans for all those I had killed?

Whoever this human was, she wasn’t ordinary, I had to escape. I used all my strength and tried to fly away.

Even if they are gigantic, they could never get me in the sky.

When I tried to fly, nothing happened. Then I realised I couldn’t even feel my wings.

My back…they’re gone! What happened to my wings? I slowly started to look down at my body and could see I was right…this was hell.

I was a human baby.

Next to the woman was a man just staring at me like I was a piece of meat. These vicious humans…

“Look at him squirming. Can I hold him?”

The woman began to pass me on to the man next to her. I tried my best to resist but I couldn’t control my body. Every command I gave to my body just didn’t seem to work. I tried shouting in protest but all that came out was sound of crying.

As the man held me in his hands, I stopped trying to shout. The crying in the room had stopped. Even though I had no control over my body, I could at least decide when I could make noise or not.

“Oh, he stopped crying. I think he likes his daddy”

The man was staring at me with a creepy smile.

If only I could fight back.

Wait a moment…wasn’t this the perfect opportunity? I had a second chance. The chance to complete what I couldn’t do before. Just like they had done to my race, now I had the chance to do the same to theirs. I could get my revenge and kill all humans.

“Ga, ga ga ga”

“Look at his cute laugh. He seems to be in a good mood now”

This stupid man. I will have my revenge with you first. I tried to focus all my energy into my mouth and tongue. I slowly gathered the saliva in my mouth waiting for it to build up. It was working…I could feel the bubbles building up in my mouth.

“What’s wrong with him? It looks like he’s about to be sick.”

As the man got closer to my face, I knew this was my chance! I opened my mouth and expelled the liquid from my mouth as hard and as far as I could. The spit flew the short distance and landed right on his face. The man flinched and quickly gave me back to the woman.

“Yuck. I think he did that on purpose!”

“Ga, ga, ga” I started to laugh at the pathetic human.

The woman smiled.

“Looks like you’re going to grow up to be a troublemaker.”

I started to feel tired. Was all the energy I had consumed trying to control my mouth? Hadn’t I just woken up? I tried to fight off the drowsiness but had no success. It was as if someone had put a spell on me. This weak human body…

Chapter 2:A Mothers love
The Great Dragon Sen was bestowed upon the name “Ray”. It was all because his father said that the name reminded him of the sunshine. But the Great Dragon Sen hated it. The name was just far too ordinary and average. He felt weak every time he heard his own name.

Ray—no, the Great Dragon Sen knew that he annoyed everyone with his cries and tantrums, but he didn’t seem to put much thought to it. Every time his parents called him by his name, he would start to cry as a protest.

‘What were they thinking, calling me Ray.’

He hated the name, for he found it unbefitting of his true self.

A few months had now passed since Sen entered his human body. His understanding of humans had significantly improved over time. In fact, he now even knew of his parents’ name! Something he thought he would have never bothered to do. He soon realised how difficult it was to just call them long haired human and short haired human. As in the town, there were many long haired and short haired humans.

His mother was named Scarlett Talen while his father had the name Jack Talen.

Although he didn’t quite understand their profession in the town; people seemed to deeply respect the couple. Every time they would have visitors, they would often come presenting them with gifts.

With the steady stream of visitors, Sen came to understand that his parents seemed to be better looking than the average human.

In the face department, his mother was the definition of beauty with long straight black hair, and a symmetrical face which always made her seem amiable and virtuous. Of course, his father wasn’t lacking, his body was quite muscular and athletic compared to the other townsfolk.

The residence of Sen’s humble family never lacked visitors, until something peculiar happened.

Sen’s hair was coloured jet-black like his mother, but after a few months… His hair started changing its colour into a reddish hue. A few weeks after the initial discovery was all it took until his hair turned completely red, only a few black strands remained attached on his scalp.

Its survival served as evidence that he wasn’t born this way.

This strange occurrence birthed rumours such as the Talen family being cursed. Hearing all of these, Sen realised that the colour red must be an unlucky colour in this world. But what could he do?

He was a red dragon.

He reckoned that some of his dragon powers were still living inside of him and it became the reason as to why his hair had changed into such an extent.

Sen was indignant, but in the end, he was just a child.

He took a mental note of everyone’s face and kept his revenge plans on hold for there was a new enemy that he had to conquer first.

It was…

“Ray, are you ready for dinner?” Sen’s mother, Scarlett asked with a smile.

Dinner time.

Sen sat in front of the table and he was strapped on his chair, unable to move. As for the reason why he was being restrained? Well, it was because Sen was being educated by his parents. In front of him, lying atop the table was a pair of spoon and fork.

The Great Dragon Sen who could only barely control the limbs of his newfound body struggled.

But oftentimes, he was left wondering…

Just how did humanity reach such precision when it comes to controlling a complicated machine such as their human body?

Sen found it incomprehensible that humans could make such minute movements to the extent that they could pick up something so tiny like this pair of spoon and fork.

Sen’s interest was piqued, but dragons were innately prideful.

Being forced to do something such as using these tools in front of him made him a rebel.

He refused to believe that humans were far superior to dragons.

He proceeded to stick his head into the bowl of soup and then ate it as a true alpha dragon would do. Although his tongue was somewhat hurting, he was happy for he managed to show these humans how a true dragon ate its meal…

Sen lifted his head out of pride and smiled, thinking that he had bested the two by eating the food on his own terms than theirs.

Scarlett and Jack stared at each other for a moment before they chuckled.

“Ray, you’re so silly… Look at the mess that you did!”

A smile was plastered across her face.

Sen was left dumbstruck.

Why?

Why was it that every time Sen tried to upset her mother, his actions would always end up with her smiling at him?

Sen hated to admit it but for the first time ever.

He came to know about the existence of a human whom he would never want to disappear.

Chapter 3:My First Birthday
A year passed and it was finally the Great Dragon Se—no, Ray’s first birthday…

Ray’s parents seemed to be watching over him with great interest. It was obvious why, for after that incident that happened six months ago. They were now expecting him to start walking on his own soon.

As for what that incident was referring to?

Well, it wasn’t something admirable, but it sure did make him feel good.

Right when his father was in the middle of changing his diaper… Ray aimed carefully and fired a turbulent stream of yellow towards his father’s face. It was a bullseye and he had successfully golden showered his father.

‘Even now I can still get my revenge slowly, one person at a time.’ He thought

The shocked look on his father’s face made him get carried away. Looking at his?pathetic face caused a slip of the tongue and he subconsciously blurted out the word, “Idiot!” to him.

At that moment, Ray went rock-solid, terrified as to how his father would react towards his very first spoken word. He was still only a baby. Knowing humans they might, tie him on a stick and burn him suddenly calling him a witch.

But all of a sudden, his father’s face went red and then tears of joy followed.

He held Ray up into the air and shouted.

“Ray… I knew you were a genius! You really are my son! You are special!”

Ray was thoroughly dumbfounded and amidst the confusion, he discovered that his father had his mouth wide open with joy. He now had the chance to golden shower him again right into his mouth, but he decided against it because his father’s praise made him feel indescribably happy.

Because of this, his parents thought he was a quick learner. However, Ray always found walking incomprehensible.

But it wasn’t because he was slacking.

In fact, he was trying his best to walk independently as soon as possible but he just couldn’t seem to control his feet. His sense of balance was always off and this always discouraged Ray.

‘What was the point of walking anyway?’

‘Crawling is still better. I can move faster as well.’

Ray thought to himself.

But when he saw the disappointed looks on his parents as they secretly observed him from the dark, Ray decided, for some reason that he needed to show them just how capable he was. He felt the need to prove to them that he was indeed a genius.

He decided on that eventful night that he would make a habit of practising by himself, unbeknownst to his parents.

Within the past few months, Ray discovered a lot.

When his mother was reading him a bedtime story, he found out that the world he had previously lived in was the same world where he was living in at this moment. As for how he discovered the truth?

It was when he realised that the story his mother had told him was about the story of a vicious red dragon that often visited the land to punish naughty kids. The red dragon’s name was Sen.

Ray instantly became proud that his name had turned into a household namesake. Often being used to scare children out of their wits. But this also made him sad.

‘Just how much time had passed since the passing of my friends and the disappearance of my life?’

For Sen, it seemed as if only a second had passed between him being that so-called vicious red dragon and being a bonafide human being. Back in the days, those that knew the name of the Great Dragon Sen feared his might, but now…

He had become a bedtime story…

Ray could only shake his head and decide that he would delve deeper into this mystery when he got old enough.

Ray’s first birthday in this world finally came and he received a sword from his father as a gift.

Needless to say, his mother was angry but it was understandable.

Just what would a child who couldn’t even hold a pair of spoon and fork properly do with a sword?

The couple argued for quite a long time and to be honest, Ray could care less.

From time to time, Ray would often eavesdrop, through this he found out that his parents seemed to be working as Adventurers. His father was a Swordsman and his mother was a Mage! The profession seemed to be well respected and there were only two Adventurers in the whole town.

Unsurprisingly, those two people were his parents.

It explained why their residence entertained so many guests everyday…Why they always came bearing gifts.

Adventurers may not be a common sight to see, but mages were as rare as a qilin’s feather.

Ray had never seen anyone cast magic before other than his mother who used it a few times when she got into an argument with her husband.

This rarity piqued Ray’s interest and he wondered if he could even become a Mage in the future.

If he could, then…

It would make his revenge far easier than he had first expected.
