He didn’t actively take part in theory lessons. But whenever he was called upon, he completed whatever was asked of him, always flawlessly.

And there was something else strange about him, too.

Piba was extremely talkative. He always wore a bright smile.

Whoever sat next to him would quickly find themselves answering questions about their day, their studies, even their mood.

If someone struggled with spells or lessons, Piba would always try his best to help them.

It was… unusual. For someone ranked number one, you expected arrogance, ego, an air of superiority. The kind of person who acted like the world owed them something.

But Piba wasn’t like that. Not at all. And that made everyone feel strangely unsettled around him.

So much so that when Dame stood up for his match, Raze pulled him aside for a word.

“Whatever happens, try not to hurt him,” Raze said quietly. “You can lose the fight if you have to. You just need to impress the judges enough to pass. If you’ve done enough, don’t push it.”

“How will I know if I’ve done enough?” Dame whispered back.

As a professor himself, Raze had been evaluating the students carefully throughout these assessment matches. He already had a solid idea of which students would be moving on to the next phase.

The unfortunate thing was, this wasn’t the Central Academy.

Any student with immense talent, or the potential to become truly great, usually transferred to the Central Academy.

That was why the other academies lacked truly elite students. There was this sense that students would rather be the worst among the best… than the best among the worst.

So even Raze wasn’t sure what to expect from the academy’s current number one.

“Look over in my direction,” Raze said. “When you feel you’ve done enough, give me a thumbs-up. I’ll make sure it counts toward passing. Just so you know, everyone else from our group has passed so far.”

Dame grinned as he headed down toward the arena.

“Figured.”

Just like Beatrix, Dame had his own fan base.

As his name was announced, a chorus of excited squeals echoed from the crowd of girls.

The male mages groaned and booed loudly in response.

“Go on, Piba! We can’t keep losing to these transfer students. Show them why you’re ranked number one!”

“Yeah! Reconstruct his ugly face while you’re at it, make him even uglier!”

“…Bro, that doesn’t even make sense,” another student added with a shake of his head.

“Hey!” Chiba chimed in, her voice sharp. “I didn’t lose my match! If those guys want a beating themselves, I’m happy to give it to them!”

She raised a clenched fist, until Yolden gently pulled her back into her seat.

The arena was ready. The circles below the two competitors faded away, signaling the start of the match.

“Do you think Dame will be okay?” Liam asked, his brow furrowed.

“Don’t you remember?” Raze replied. “He trained you and Simyon for the longest time. Back then, he was stronger than all of us. He always put himself forward. Out of everyone here, if you asked me who I trust the most in a fight… well, it’d probably be him.”

“Not me?” Safa said, folding her arms and pouting.

“A different kind of trust,” Raze corrected quickly.

Below, the match began.

Dame wasted no time, he’d been eager to use his new gloves. With two swift punches in the air, fireballs shot out toward Piba at impressive speed.

Just like with Liam’s wand, the stronger and faster the punch, the more Qi was added, and the fiercer the fireball attack became.

The flames hurtled toward Piba, but with a cheerful grin, he conjured two fireballs of his own, releasing them at the last second.

When Piba’s fireballs collided with Dame’s, they swallowed them up instantly.

“Haha! I know you can attack faster and with more than that, I saw you in your practical lessons!” Piba called out. “Come on! Let’s give everyone a show, we are

the last match of the day, after all!”

Dame smiled to himself.

Guess I’ll give them something to watch.

Moving swiftly from his position, Dame swung his arms out wide. It reminded him of the old Qi blast attacks he used to practice.

With each motion, fireballs shot off in all directions.

But Piba saw them coming.

With a wave of his hand, a sweeping wall of fire erupted, consuming nearly every fireball in an instant.

Dame didn’t slow down.

Continuing to throw out his hands, he suddenly dashed forward.

When he got close, he jumped high into the air.

This time, instead of flames, he used pure Qi, striking the ground with a powerful punch that sent out a burst of wind beneath him, propelling him even higher. It was just the power of his legs, but he had done all of this to give it the appearance of wind magic.

Now, from above, he unleashed another wave, fireballs raining down from the sky, with more coming from below.

But Piba simply spun gracefully on the spot, releasing vortexes of wind in every direction.

The spiraling winds extinguished the fireballs completely.

“Oh… he really is almost a class above everyone else,” Liam murmured, wide-eyed. “Right, Raze?”

“He is,” Raze agreed. “But he’s not using stronger spells or anything like that. It’s his control. It’s precise. He can see everything exactly as it is. No wasted movement. He’s definitely a talented student.”

“Haha! It was something that couldn’t be taught or replicated by conventional means.

Take Enaxx, for example. His ability to clone himself, splitting his body into various elements, was a perfect case of a unique trait in action.

Anyone with a unique trait that was even remotely useful would almost certainly be enrolled in the Central Academy. That was why Raze didn’t expect to find one here. Although, truth be told, some unique traits were completely useless.

There were some… wild ones. Like the ability to consume food and convert it into a mana source. While technically functional, this would fall firmly into the “useless” category.

After all, the mana produced wasn’t particularly powerful or reliable, and eating a full meal in the middle of battle wasn’t exactly practical.

Special affinities, on the other hand, were something different altogether. These were rare types of magic, elements that only certain mages could unlock, elements far beyond the reach of standard magical study.

They weren’t universal like the basic elements that anyone could learn and wield with enough training. No, special affinities were unique, deeply personal to each mage.

Sometimes other mages shared the same affinity. Sometimes no one else did. The usefulness of an affinity varied, and whether it was a powerful blessing or something more subtle depended greatly on both the affinity itself and the mage who wielded it.

The issue with special affinities, though, was this: due to how rare they were, there was often little to no research on them. Very few known spells existed for these elements.

That was exactly the challenge Raze faced with his own time magic. He had the affinity. He had the raw mana. He could tap into its basic properties. But translating all of that into fully functional spells? That required research, research that simply didn’t exist.

Of course, Raze was no ordinary mage. He possessed a deep understanding of mana and spellcraft. Given enough time, he could likely figure it out on his own, but that could take months of rigorous testing.

For a less experienced mage? A special affinity might be practically useless. Without the knowledge or means to harness it, they’d never unlock its true potential.

Still, the way Chiba had spoken about Piba suggested that Piba had figured it out. He knew how to use his affinity.

’Which means what he’s using is more than likely one of the offensive types,’ Raze thought.

Down in the ring, Dame wasn’t exactly winning. So far, all he’d shown were basic flame balls from his gloves. The professors watching didn’t seem particularly impressed.

If Raze had been judging, there was still a chance Dame could make it, he’d shown solid improvement. But to secure a place in the exchange, he’d need to display something spectacular.

Feeling the pressure, Dame’s frustration began to show. Gritting his teeth, he started to spin his body, building momentum.

As he turned, a fireball launched from his outstretched hand, fast, incredibly fast.

Piba responded by stomping the ground, raising an earth wall in front of him. The fireball smashed straight through it and kept on going.

At the last second, Piba formed a shield of water in front of his chest. The fireball hit, and was quickly extinguished as the water spun violently, snuffing out the flames.

“Whoa, did you see that?” one of the students whispered.

“I’ve never seen a fireball thrown that fast. Did he spin his body using wind magic or something?”

“Yeah, it had to be that, right? Maybe he used wind to propel the fire forward.”

“You’re an idiot. That makes no sense,” another student snapped. “If you used wind magic on fire magic, it would weaken the flames, not strengthen them. There’s no other element that would give a boost like that.”

And that was precisely why the others found Dame’s technique so impressive.

Dame himself was equally pleased. He glanced toward Raze, searching for a sign that it was enough. But Raze remained on the fence, his expression unreadable.

’It’s caught the teachers’ curiosity… but not enough to guarantee you a spot,’ Raze thought.

What worried Raze, though, was that Piba was still fighting steadily, and he hadn’t even revealed his special affinity yet.

“I suppose enough time has been spent,” Piba said with a smile. “It appears you’re taking this far more seriously now.”

Feeling emboldened by his recent success, Dame doubled down. If it worked once, why not again?

He spun his body several times, releasing Qi from one hand while firing off a stream of fireballs with the other.

Utilizing Qi in this way gave the illusion that he was using wind magic, allowing him to hurl powerful fireballs with fierce velocity.

This time, Dame unleashed four fireballs in rapid succession, each one flying toward Piba with blistering speed.

In response, Piba raised several earth walls, though these seemed more designed to slow the fireballs than to stop them outright.

As the blazing attacks burst through the earth defenses, a large shimmering field of water was left behind, hanging in the air.

But this water wasn’t ordinary. It glowed faintly, its surface shimmering with an ethereal light.

’Those aren’t normal fireballs,’ Dame thought confidently. ’They’re powered by my Qi. Even a water wall shouldn’t be enough to stop them!’

But he was wrong.

As the fireballs struck the glowing water, they fizzled out, vanishing with barely a ripple. Nothing made it through.

Now, everyone in the crowd, including Dame, could clearly see the truth. The water had a strange, radiant glow.

When the water finally receded, the glow remained, now enveloping Piba’s entire body.

“That’s his special affinity!” a student cried out.

“I think this is the first time I’ve seen him use it… It’s beautiful.”

As Raze watched, he recognized it immediately.

“Moon magic,” Raze said softly.

****

For updates on My Werewolf System

and future works, please follow me on my social media below:

Instagram: jksmanga

*Patreon: jksmanga

When news about My Vampire System, My Werewolf System, or any other series drops, you’ll hear about it there first, and if I’m not too busy, I usually reply to messages!

Report chapter Comments

Chapter 1332: Special Magic (Part 2)

There were very few who would be able to recognize the type of magic Piba was using. Unless they had witnessed it firsthand or Piba had told them outright, it remained a mystery.

But Raze, having lived the long life he had as a professor, had seen it before. In fact, he had seen it several times.

’Raze still hasn’t given me the thumbs up. Does that mean I need to show even more of my powers?’ Dame thought anxiously.

Rather than focusing on what his opponent had just done, Dame’s mind was still fixed on one thing, getting through.

After all, not for a second did he believe he would actually lose the fight, not if he used everything he had.

Piba, however, had different plans. The glow surrounding his body continued to shimmer, and then, with a swift motion, he started swinging his hands outward.

It was a move wind mages often used, sending wind slashes cutting through the air. But just like the glow enveloping Piba, these slashes gleamed brightly as they raced toward Dame.

Seeing this, Dame quickly responded. He fired flames from his gloves to intercept the attack.

But as the fire struck Piba’s enhanced wind slashes, it had no effect. The flames were extinguished instantly, and the wind attacks continued to barrel toward him.

’His attacks… they’re not stronger than mine, and I even used Qi in that strike,’ Dame thought, his brow furrowed.

In a flash, Dame pushed himself off the ground with a powerful kick, shifting his body to the side in one fluid motion, making it appear as if he was using wind magic himself.

He successfully dodged two of the strikes. But then, two more came at him from both sides. It was too late to avoid them, not without drawing suspicion.

“Arghhh, I’ll just have to grab them!” Dame thought, determination flashing in his eyes.

Igniting his gloves once more, this time the flames fully surrounded his hands. With a surge of Qi, Dame reached out and grabbed the two sharp wind attacks.

The intense heat from his gloves burned through the wind-enhanced strikes until they finally shattered, disintegrating into nothing.

“Oh, he must have quite the intense mana to break the attack like that,” Redrick remarked.

“Indeed,” another professor nodded. “Especially since Piba is now using his special affinity, Moon Magic.”

Many of the students still watching had no idea what was happening, even after seeing the strange magic. They whispered among themselves, trying to guess what kind of power this truly was.

“Do you know what his affinity is, Raze?” Chiba asked eagerly, as if ready to explain everything herself. Finally, she thought, there was something she might know that he didn’t.

“Yes. That’s Moon Magic,” Raze replied calmly. “It’s a special affinity, though it happens to be one of the most common among them. Because of that, there’s quite a lot of research that’s been done on it.

“Moon Magic is an enhancer. You see, combining magic between different elements is often dangerous. If the ratio isn’t right or the combination is unstable, it can lead to disastrous consequences for the mage.

“Even testing such things is a dangerous game. But if someone manages to succeed, the resulting spells can become incredibly powerful.

“However, there’s an exception to this rule, and that’s Moon Magic. It’s an affinity that mixes naturally with any type of magic, enhancing its strength significantly.

“It grants each element an additional boost in power. That’s why mages with Moon Magic often become the cornerstone of their guilds. They’re seen as valuable assets and essential support.

“And more importantly, their magic can be used on other mages as well, making them highly sought after. Even spells using Moon Magic alone serve as powerful buffs.”

Chiba was left with her mouth hanging open, speechless. She had been fully prepared to explain this to the others, but Raze had already said it all. Worse, he’d even explained more than she had intended to.

Once again, she’d learned something new from him.

“That’s right, that’s right!” Chiba said quickly, trying to recover. “And with it, it looks like your friend will finally lose this match.”

The strength of Moon Magic was clear. Piba had demonstrated it with both a simple wind spell and a defensive spell.

What had surprised the teachers, though, was Dame’s ability to break an enhanced attack.

Dame, on the other hand, still had one more card up his sleeve.

He could use his Lightning Body, activate the power of the gauntlets to channel Simyon’s old ability.

With that, he was sure it would be enough to impress. Just as he was preparing to do it, Dame caught sight of Raze giving a small thumbs-up, before quickly lowering his hand.

A barrage of Moon-enhanced attacks was now heading straight toward Dame.

This time, Dame activated his special gloves again, but he chose not to use Qi.

The attacks collided with his body, and in the next moment, he stomped the ground hard, kicking up a thick dust storm to block the others’ view.

When the dust finally began to settle, Dame was lying on the ground, groaning in pain.

“Ow… ow. I’m really hurt,” Dame groaned, clutching his shoulder.

He had a few visible cuts on his body, but compared to the wounds he’d endured as a Pagna warrior, this was nothing.

“The match has come to an end!” Panla declared. “With that, all students have participated in the first stage of the selection process for the Cultural Exchange! Please wait as we announce those who will be moving on to the second stage!”

Later, when Dame returned, he received some real healing, along with a bit of fake healing from Safa, just to make it seem like he had taken more damage than he actually had.

Chiba and Yolden were gleefully gloating that one of their own had finally won, but Dame didn’t care.

Finally, the results were posted, and just as expected. The five top students and the five transfer students had advanced to the next stage of the assessment.

They would soon be entering another dimension.

****

For updates on My Werewolf System

and future works, please follow me on my social media below:

Instagram: jksmanga

*Patreon: jksmanga

When news about My Vampire System, My Werewolf System, or any other series drops, you’ll hear about it there first, and if I’m not too busy, I usually reply to messages!

Report chapter Comments

Chapter 1333: A Fun Night (Part 1)

The twenty students who had been told they would move on to the next stage were absolutely overjoyed. It had been expected that the top five students would be selected, but when the five transfer students’ names were also picked, the atmosphere shifted.

Although many in the crowd were disappointed, none of them could argue. After witnessing the transfer students’ performances firsthand, it was clear they had earned their place.

Chiba was the first to suggest they should all come together and celebrate, and so, they did. They decided to head out for a meal just outside the Academy walls.

They chose a magical barbecue spot, where enchanted utensils cooked and carved the meat to perfection. The students simply selected their dishes, and the food was prepared right before their eyes.

As the others watched the floating utensils move gracefully through the air, preparing everything without them lifting a single finger, they had to remind themselves not to look too surprised.

Eventually, Chiba lifted her glass high in front of everyone, her cheeks already tinged pink. She had a few words she wanted to share.

“Whether we won, lost, or drew today, it doesn’t matter,” Chiba announced, her voice ringing with energy. “Because going forward, we are all in this together!”

There were a few exchanged side-eyes, but reluctantly, everyone raised their glasses and cheered along.

“You really managed to pull it out of the bag right at the end there,” Yolden said, turning to Dame. “I was getting worried for you when Piba started using his Moon Magic. I thought you wouldn’t get a chance to really show what you could do.”

“You’re telling me,” Dame replied, shaking his head. “I still haven’t fully gotten the hang of these gloves, but it worked out in the end.”

As the night carried on, both the Pagna warriors and the Academy students enjoyed a large quantity of drinks.

What surprised the mages most was how well the Pagna warriors were handling their alcohol. It was as if it wasn’t affecting them at all.

It was all thanks to their warrior bodies. Each time they reached a new stage in their cultivation, more and more toxins were purged from their systems.

This not only contributed to their long lifespans, but those who neared or even reached the Divine Realm were essentially immortal.

“Do you guys know some kind of cleansing spell or something?” Chiba asked, her face flushed as she hiccuped softly. “No… no, that can’t be possible.”

“Aren’t you kids just students?” Dame said with a chuckle. “I think you should take it easy with your drinking.” He gently placed Chiba’s glass down on the table. “Especially with your small body, it’s going to hit you harder than the others.”

Chiba glanced at her drink… and then back at Dame.

She couldn’t help but stare at his strong, handsome features, and her tipsy mind compelled her to speak.

“Oi… do you think just because you’re handsome you can tell me what to do?” Chiba teased. “I mean… it’s working a bit. But I heard you rejected everyone, so I’m not going to try. And besides, I have a rule. I don’t date anyone weaker than me.”

Dame shook his head with a smile and decided to let her drunken ramblings go.

“I mean, you lost to Piba, who’s the number one ranked student, sure, but I can tell… I could totally kick your ass. You barely did anything apart from that Fiery Hands, whoo!” Chiba said, waving her hands wildly in the air. “And where was your Windy Windy Strike, huh? Not one of you used it.”

As the evening wore on, the gathering shifted into more of a look after the drunk ones kind of night for both the warriors and the mages.

“Should I use my Light Magic?” Safa whispered softly. “I think I could cleanse them of the alcohol’s effects.”

“It’s okay,” Raze replied calmly. “They did this because they’re happy, and they wanted to drink. When we take them back… just before they fall asleep, that’ll be the best time to cleanse them. That way, they’ll be ready for the assessment tomorrow.”

“Ahhh… if only you hadn’t lost. If only you hadn’t lost to Piba… then I’d make you mine,” Chiba giggled, hiccuping again.

Eventually, Dame had had enough. He leaned in closer. As he did, Chiba’s face grew warmer by the second. Then, she heard Dame’s whispered words.

“The truth is… I still had a lot more to show,” Dame said softly. “I lost on purpose. I was perfectly fine.”

Because of the System, Liam had picked up every single word he said.

“And Raze said he trusted you the most! You’re going to blow our cover!” Liam nearly shouted, panic flashing in his eyes.

“Cover? What cover?” Yolden asked, frowning.

Now it was Safa shaking her head at Liam, giving him a clear warning look.

And as usual, when situations like this started to spiral, everyone turned to look at Raze.

He stood up, his face serious, his presence commanding the room as all eyes fell on him.

“I’m sorry,” Raze said simply.

Everyone stopped what they were doing and stared. Raze had been mostly silent the entire evening, and when he spoke, he had a way of pulling the room’s full attention.

Raze… are you really going to tell them the truth? Safa thought nervously. Right now, I’m not sure that’s a good idea.

“Haha! You cheated, right?” Moze burst out, laughing. “That’s what you want to say!”

Yolden quickly slapped a hand over Moze’s mouth to shut him up. She was now staring deeply into Raze’s eyes. To her, it really did seem like this was something important.

She had always thought it strange, five powerful transfer students arriving at the Academy like this… it had never sat quite right with her.

“I’m sorry,” Raze said again. “But the truth is… us transfer students, we’re really poor. We have no money.
