Chapter 1048: A Fifty Fifty Plan

Deep underground, in the dark surface where there was next to no light, Zon was moving around like a mad man, as if his life depended on it. He was shooting beams from his hands at the walls, even moving across and using his own fists to punch the power stones of the walls.

He then fired as many lasers as he could, with some needing more effort compared to others. As he had finished with those across the bottom, Zon started to levitate in the air, using the strange energy he produced out of the soles of his feet to raise himself.

He then continued to fire all around.

As for Lince, who had been watching everything so far, he too had joined in with helping Zon. Using his Qi and techniques, he continued to destroy the crystals one after another, not leaving one of them untouched.

“So, are you going to tell me what’s the use in destroying all of these crystals!” Lince shouted. A part of him felt like it was such a waste.

So many of these power stones were clearly at a high level. They could have been used to forge strong weapons or Qi pills, and instead, they were just crumbling into mere fragments.

“I don’t know if what I’m doing will work or not,” Zon answered as he still continued to fire out of the palm of his hands, not wasting any time. “I believe what we are doing has a fifty- fifty chance of working, but if it works, it will be better for all of us.”

It wasn’t the answer that Lince wanted, but it was the answer that had to do for now.

On the battlefield for the first time in a battle, Raze had used a new formation, the Phantom Edge Formation. He had been studying the other formations of the Dark Edge Sword Arts for a while, but there was something missing in the other formations.

Something that he couldn’t put his finger on which would allow him to use some of the other formations. When he had battled against Belil and had seen the formations firsthand, Raze had a clearer picture.

A clearer picture of what they were meant to be like, and a clearer picture of how to use Qi correctly in order to perform the moves. The links he was missing had matched up, and if he could perform the moves using Qi, then he could do so using magic.

For now though, without the use of magic, the Dark Edge Sword Arts were what he could rely

on.

Raze stood there with his translucent weapon, and then he dashed forward, rushing ahead, heading straight for Mosak.

Seeing Raze come his way, Mosak swung his spear across the floor, and an entire line of aura had gone out, scraping across the floor. Raze had jumped up, avoiding the hit, and swung his blade from above.

All of this was quite predictable, and it allowed Mosak to predict where Raze was going to attack from.

‘I’ll block this hit from above, and then stab him right through the stomach. This man is quite resilient, so I’ll just have to poke a whole bunch of holes through him and make sure he can’t get up!’ Mosak thought.

He held the spear firmly above his head, and the sword struck against it. It felt no different from the attacks before; the translucent blade didn’t go through his spear, nor did the Qi feel any stronger.

Yet, for the first time in the fight, when blocking the attack, Mosak felt striking pain in several different parts of his body. The sides of his arms were cut, and he continued to be cut all the way up to his shoulder.

‘What is happening!’

Mosak was too distracted but could see Raze swinging his sword again from the side. As the sword moved, an afterimage of the sword being left behind could be seen. It was hard for Mosak to focus, and that’s when he blocked the hit from the side, and great pain was felt up his arms.

They were being cut from all over, and blood was falling from his hands.

Raze didn’t stop as he continued with the momentum swinging his blade, and only then was Mosak noticing what was happening.

Spectral images were appearing with each strike, almost multiplying the blade and the angles from where it was attacking. The movement of the sword was swift, and it had a multi-strike capability regardless of the sword only hitting one area.

It allowed the person to attack from various angles simultaneously. It was as if the sword was always moving through Qi, allowing it to strike from different areas. This was the Phantom Edge Formation.

The main issue of such a move was the large amount of Qi it would use. However, although Raze didn’t know how to activate the properties of Demonic Qi, he had unknowingly been unlocking it when using the Dark Edge Sword Arts, and it was the same case now.

As long as he continued to land hits and hurt Mosak, his Qi would be restored, allowing him to keep up the Phantom Edge Formation.

Sliding back, it was the first time Mosak had clearly backed away from an attack. As he leapt back, he spun his spear in a circle formation, firing out constantly another round of Qi blasts.

Raze, with a single swing, was able to take out many, but multiple were coming out at the same time. Eventually, Raze realized he couldn’t get close to Mosak like this, and he was using a lot of Qi, so he stopped using the Phantom Edge Formation and moved to the side.

“Haha, I can’t believe I didn’t notice it until now,” Mosak said. “I guess I was slightly tricked because you were using a sword instead, but all of the techniques there are so similar to what he used to use, and the name you mentioned before, Belil?”

“Are you the Abyssal Demon’s Disciple?” Mosak asked.

Chapter 1049: The Abyssal Demon

The word “Abyssal Demon” didn’t really mean much to Raze. If anything, he was confused by those words. However, based on the situation and what had occurred, along with the name used, Mosak could only have been referring to one person.

“Belil?” Raze murmured.

“Right, that man did go by that name, didn’t he? But I can’t believe I would find that disciple here of all places. It’s strange. I saw your memories-you’re not even from this world, so why would he even choose to train you?” Mosak asked.

Raze was pretty sure there had to be a misunderstanding. For one, Raze didn’t have a master in Pagna. He was taught by a teacher at the orphanage and then learned techniques himself from the Dark Faction Academy.

From there, he had picked up things on his own or from the Dark Edge Sword Arts. He was definitely not a disciple of Belil, but what was even more interesting was the name that was used for him.

‘Abyssal Demon? Is that because of the place where he’s from?’ Raze thought. ‘That was the name of the Neverfall Clan’s base, right?’

“I suppose you wouldn’t know much, since he was given that name in the Divine Realm,” Mosak continued to explain. “That man caused quite a disturbance when he entered the Divine Realm.”

“He was a madman, using the same techniques as you with his fists. He was unruly, didn’t really understand the status up there, but I guess it might be because he truly entered the Divine Realm rather than being guided.”

Although Raze was listening carefully, using this time to gather his Qi and plan how to best Mosak, he didn’t really care about this. The Divine Realm? If the Grand Magus weren’t there, then what did it matter what happened up there?

“He was given a nickname due to the trouble he caused. He was quite infamous for a while- that was, until he was taught a lesson. He learned that he was nothing up there, and then we never saw him again.” Mosak shrugged his shoulders. “Do you understand? Maybe Belil was a big deal down here, but after what happened in the Divine Realm, he never returned because he was afraid.”

“And you are using the techniques of someone like that.”

Raze found it quite amusing. He had heard some of this story from Belil himself, but if anything, Belil had been tame in his telling of the tale. Such a man, after entering a place filled with powerful individuals, had caused a large disturbance? He never mentioned this.

If anything, it made Raze see the techniques in a new light. These techniques, formed on Pagna and not in the Divine Realm, were enough for him to cause trouble in a place like that. “It doesn’t matter anyway. It just surprised me, that’s all, and it gave me enough time to come up with a solution for your little sword,” Mosak claimed.

Knowing that the two would enter combat once again, Raze placed his hand over his sword, embedding his Qi into the Ghost blade to give it a translucent effect. Raze ran across the floor, and so did Mosak.

The two headed for the center, ready for a clash-and that’s exactly what occurred. The swings from Raze’s blade were relentless, striking again and again, hitting against Mosak’s spear.

While Mosak continued to defend from the attacks, each time his arms were being ripped apart, blood streaking them.

Raze thrust his sword at the center of Mosak, and several cuts appeared in his stomach. With a small jump, Mosak spun his blade, firing off several Qi blasts, but the powerful aspect of the Phantom Edge formation was that it even worked against multiple attacks like these.

As Raze swung his blade to block one attack, it also cut through several of the other Qi blasts. As soon as the Qi blasts ended, Raze saw that Mosak was on him again.

The sword was swung from above, and Mosak lifted the center of his spear to block the attack. At the same time, both of his hands glowed with Divine energy, which burst out in an orb-like shape surrounding them.

The Qi didn’t do much to affect Raze, but when he looked at his sword, it no longer had its translucent effect, and the spectral images that normally appeared with each attack hadn’t shown.

“Got you!” Mosak said with a smile, slamming the spear down and hitting Raze hard. Despite Raze blocking, his legs and knees bent as the ground beneath him cracked. With the bottom of the spear, Mosak whacked Raze in the face and chin, lifting his head.

The power surged above, even hitting the clouds, causing them to dissipate. It was the first hit that made Raze’s mind blur for a moment.

‘I have to keep going. I can’t lose consciousness… or it’ll be the end!’ Raze moved his hand over his sword.

‘Phantom Edge formation!’ Raze thought as he swung the sword at Mosak.

When it was blocked with the spear like before, the energy blasted out from Mosak, destroying the Phantom Edge formation.

“I’m sorry, I already figured that out. If you were up against someone else, this would be an extremely powerful technique, but not against me-not against me!”

The tip of the spear went straight for Raze’s head, and he had no choice. He poured his Qi into his special foot technique, moving to the side. His cheek was scratched, drawing blood, but Raze was safe for now.

His breathing was heavier than before.

‘Without being able to hit him, I can’t regain Qi from my techniques, and Mosak doesn’t seem to be tiring at all… This is risky. This man seems to know the techniques, but it’s the only

thing I can do.’

Raze, with both hands, lifted the sword directly above his head from the handle. He held it with its side pointed at Mosak rather than the edge, preparing to perform the next formation.

“The 6th Dark Edge Sword Art formation. The Dusk Wing Strike!”

Chapter 1050: My Last Breath

It had been hard on Beatrix for a while now to contemplate whether what she was doing was right or wrong—to go against her clan. These thoughts had been building in her mind for some time.

In the end, she had come to a decision: to go against her own clan. With this resolve, a few words from Impress or even Ricar weren’t going to change her mind, which was why she acted out with the sword pointed in front of her.

She could tell from Impress’s eyes, and maybe it was from the vision they had seen, how far she was willing to act. There was no convincing the woman in front of her; it would have to be a fight to the death.

Beatrix lifted her foot, kicking the sword upward, and immediately the veins were growing on Impress’s head. She charged forward, her sword glowing with Qi, and went to strike at Beatrix.

Moving to the side, with her eyes focused on the weapon, Beatrix was avoiding all the slashes, but she was on the back foot as she shifted her position several times.

“What are you doing, Impress? If you strike her with that much Qi, you’ll kill her. Killing another Elder is grounds for immediate expulsion from the clan!” Ricar shouted. “We must do things appropriately and have a vote to discuss the matters involving Beatrix!”

“Ha, are you a fool?” Impress said as her sword scraped against Beatrix’s, who was now using it to block attacks. The two swords were scraping across each other, trying to lead one another.

The swords were flung to the sides, and sharp cuts were being made on the floor, in the air, and in several other areas.

“This woman right here-she is a traitor to the clan! The other Elders, as well as the Light Faction, will certainly understand my actions today. If anything, it’s you that should be worrying!”

A swift strike from Impress hit Beatrix hard as she used her sword to block an attack to her chest. It was a heavy blow infused with Qi, and Beatrix’s internals still hadn’t fully recovered. She felt it surging through her body until a small trickle of blood escaped her mouth.

‘I used up so much Qi fighting against Mosak, trying to block his attacks, and I was hurt badly in the fight as well. I can’t take too many hits!’

However, Impress didn’t let up. If anything, it was almost as if she was swayed by the sight of blood coming from Beatrix’s mouth. She moved her sword and continued to strike heavy blows each time.

“You damned bitch! I knew we should never have made you an Elder. It’s quite clear that all that fame, the fact that you’re talented and pretty-it’s all gone to your head! I’m sure it’s the same for you. How many people guided you?”

“How many people supported you, all wondering if they would be able to get a part of that thing between your legs?”

A heavy blow from above sent Beatrix stumbling to the floor and rolling on the ground. She had dropped her sword, but with her hands, she still held onto the Golden Globe.

She used both hands, gripping it tightly and hugging it to her stomach.

“A useless effort. Do you really think someone of my caliber wouldn’t be able to see through such a thing?” Impress said as she walked forward.

Before she could reach her, though, Ricar stood between the two.

“This is enough. I will not stand here and watch what has occurred. As the longest-standing Elder, you have to listen to me. She will be punished for this, I assure you, but not like this- and not now,” Ricar said.

Impress stared into Ricar’s eyes for a moment before letting out a big sigh and placing her sword by her side. She lifted her hands and placed them on her forehead.

“You… I think you’re right,” Impress stated. “After my memories were shared like that, I think I’ve had more on my mind than usual. But there’s one thing.”

Impress shifted forward and stabbed her sword directly into Ricar’s chest. The blade pierced his skin easily and stuck out the other side.

“With you gone, that means I’m currently the eldest Elder-and with that, my decision is final.”

The sword had struck Ricar’s heart with a devastating amount of Qi. Beatrix, who was on the floor, lifted her head and saw the scene unfolding in front of her, everything happening because of the decision she had made.

Slowly, Ricar lifted his hands and grabbed the blade of the weapon.

“After seeing your memories, it seems I should have expected this from you. But I still believed in some good,” Ricar stated. “You will never be like her behind me. She is what we all strive to be in the Light Faction!”

Ricar, with his hand, started to gather his Qi. He shaped his hand into a claw-like form, and his fingertips began to glow. Thrusting it outward, his fingers dug into Impress and hit her, sending her body flying and tumbling across the ground. At the same time, the sword that had impaled Ricar fell out as well.

Beatrix quickly got up off the floor, just as Ricar fell to his knees, hitting the ground.

“Ricar… Ricar!” Beatrix shouted and screamed. “No! Why did you do that? Why were you helping someone like me when you didn’t even agree with what I was doing? Why did you give up your life?”

Ricar reached under his shirt and pulled out a flat object. It was almost the same size as a book. This was the item he had taken from the Martial Arts Tournament. It had originally been spherical in shape, but the user could change its form at will, and he had turned it into what looked like a thick book.

“Ricar… Ricar!” Beatrix cried, sobbing in tears.

“Stick to your own sense of justice. You’ve come this far now… so… keep… going… for the sake of the Light Faction… and… for the sake of Pagna…” Ricar said with his last breath.

Chapter 1051: A Tough Choice

“Ricar… Ricar… Ricar!” Beatrix shouted as she shook his body, but there was no response. She could still feel just remnants of Qi coming off from his body, yet it was continuously fading away. Tears were rolling down her face uncontrollably as they dropped onto Ricar’s lifeless body.

She had faced hard times with Ricar, who had always been tough on her. He had guided her in the way of the Light Faction, taking up the responsibility of looking after her when her father and mother had passed fighting against the Demonic Faction.

He had pushed all of her anger down and turned it into a calm peace. The closest man in her life was this one. Maybe he hadn’t felt the same way, as Ricar had many disciples and countless others within the clan that he needed to look after.

Perhaps his treatment wasn’t unique, and he had treated many others the same as he treated Beatrix. But to her, it was a lifeline, someone to follow. She remembered the days she worked tirelessly, showing her swordsmanship and aiding the Dawnblade Clan in achieving their goals.

Many of the things she did were because she wanted to hear Ricar’s words-the words that he was proud of her. She had heard those words many times, and they continued to drive her forward.

Eventually, Beatrix had started to grow into her own person, but it was all thanks to the thoughts and teachings instilled in her by Ricar. She remembered one phrase he had spoken to her very well:

“If everyone in the world were like you, Pagna would be a far better place than it is now.”

Thinking of all these memories, all of the times she had spent with Ricar, not just the good but even the bad, she even wanted him to scold her if she could. All of it was too much and made her heart ache even more as she realized she would never be able to hear those words again.

Gently, she laid Ricar on the ground, saddened by the thought that this might be his final resting place. Then her eyes landed on the strange book-like object in her hand, along with the Golden Globe.

‘This book… it was what you took in your darkest moment. It makes me wonder why you chose to take it back then,’ Beatrix thought. ‘And now, you’ve passed the burden of this artifact onto me. What did you want me to do with it? Why give it to me?’

She turned her head, glancing into the vast wasteland, before looking toward where Impress had been struck. A powerful strike had been delivered by Ricar, using a massive amount of Qi, but Beatrix could tell, upon reflection, that his footing had been wrong.

With the sword already impaled in his chest, it had been impossible for Ricar to step in properly while throwing his strike, to draw the full power necessary to complete the move. As expected, Impress, who had been hit away, was no longer there.

Small patches of her blood stained the ground, but Impress’s body was gone. Beatrix imagined that as soon as Impress had risen, hurt by the attack, she had decided to flee.

‘In this situation now, with Ricar gone, if I return to the clan, I’ll have no one to protect me,’ Beatrix thought. ‘I’m a new Elder in the clan, and Impress has been part of the Dawnblade Clan for a long time. They’ll believe her word over mine.’

‘She might even claim I was the one who killed Ricar.’

It was painful for her to think about, but returning to the clan after this would cause countless problems. She wasn’t even certain of the current state of the Light Faction Clan. Without the Golden Globe, their relationship with Alter would surely be ruined.

Regardless, the safest thing to assume now was that the Light Faction and her clan would treat her as a complete enemy.

Thinking about this situation, she couldn’t deny it-she was beginning to regret her actions.

‘Did I make the wrong decision? Because of what I did, Ricar has ended up like this. Because of me, because of my stubbornness to do what I felt was right, the situation has turned out like this.’

Not only had a life been lost, but her own life had been completely shattered. Perhaps even the synergy of the entire Light Faction had been broken. The issue was that she had acted on a hunch—a feeling that if Alter or others gained possession of the Golden Globe, it would be disastrous for all of Pagna.

However, it wasn’t a fact. It was only her guess. Alter claimed to be a group that kept artifacts from being misused by the world. Maybe that was true, and they simply wanted to prevent everyone from using it.

Or perhaps everything they had witnessed today-from the Dark Faction’s founder, Raze’s words, and those who stood beside him-held the real truth.

She wondered why all this responsibility had to fall onto her. In some ways, she wished she had never been entrusted with the Golden Globe in the first place.

‘Ricar… What would you have said to me? Do you think I made the right choice?’ she

wondered. But in Ricar’s last moments, perhaps he still believed in Beatrix.

Which was why he had stood in front of her, placing himself between her and Impress, willing to protect her.

‘He trusted me more than I trust myself right now,’ Beatrix thought.

Her hands were trembling, and she could see the dust on the ground shifting. Large, heavy winds continued to hit her as Qi flowed through her body. Turning her head to the right, she could see the Dark Magus and Mosak still clashing with each other.

There still hadn’t been a victor in their fight.

“Dark Magus, I hope I wasn’t wrong about you,” Beatrix muttered.

Chapter 1052: Finally Hurt

Raze was stuck fighting against his opponent, Mosak, and although he hadn’t suffered any major injuries in the fight so far, mainly due to his revitalized body along with Belil’s Qi, it was a battle he could see himself on the path to losing.

He was using far too much Qi in the fight and yet wasn’t doing any significant damage. Still, there was one thing that had worked so far-the Dark Edge Sword Arts. Even now, the Dark Edge Sword Arts, a combined creation of Belil and the Dark Faction founder, were having an effect.

The fifth formation was the only technique so far that had managed to scratch Mosak. If that worked, then the only thing Raze could truly rely on right now was more of the Dark Edge Sword Arts formations.

Lifting his sword into the air, Raze began the motions of the only other Dark Edge Sword Art formation he knew at the moment-the sixth formation.

“The 6th Dark Edge Sword Art formation: Dusk Wing Strike!”

The sword was raised above Raze’s head, pulsating with Qi flowing through the weapon. The energy began to form images at the sides of the sword as it pointed toward Mosak, with its flat side facing him.

The Qi started to form ethereal dark wings at the edges of the blade. The energy swirling around didn’t form solid images, but the faint shapes of wings still appeared near the weapon.

Then the Qi spread further, flowing through Raze’s body and emitting out from his back. Just over his shoulders, the energy formed two small wings. They weren’t black but a dark orange in color.

“These techniques are always strange…” Mosak said, bending his knees and gripping his spear tightly, preparing for what was to come. “Techniques are usually just a single movement, a burst of energy, or a specific strike, but these seem to completely change the way the user fights, making it difficult for me to adapt.”

Mosak tightened his grip on the spear, and a pulse of energy spread through the area around him. The Qi continued to swirl around his body as he waited for the next move.

“I won’t be stopped here!” Raze shouted. The strange Qi over his wings twitched, and he accelerated across the field, leaving a trail of energy lingering on the ground.

Mosak’s power pulsed outward, but Raze’s form darted right through it. In a flash, Raze slashed his sword across Mosak’s chest, making a clean cut before Mosak could position his spear to block.

Mosak’s pulsating energy activated, but Raze had already exited the immediate area, appearing on the other side of the battlefield. Now at a distance, Raze began swinging his sword several times in the air, sending lines of Qi aura shooting forward.

Mosak spun his spear rapidly, blocking each of the attacks. The blows were heavy, forcing Mosak’s feet to shift on the ground repeatedly.

‘These attacks… it’s almost like external Qi. Is he producing it through this sword formation?’ Mosak thought. He stopped spinning his spear as the barrage ceased, only to see Raze high in the air.

Raze dove down fast, striking Mosak hard, though the attack was blocked. Before Mosak could counter, Raze was already out of range and back in the air. He began diving repeatedly, attacking from different angles at incredible speeds, constantly pressuring Mosak.

‘He can stay in the air as well… It’s making it difficult for me to use my techniques on him or to best him in hand-to-hand combat like before. This is getting tougher than I expected.’ As Mosak processed this, he gripped his spear with both hands, blocking another attack from Raze. The force of the blow pushed Mosak across the ground, sliding him back at least a hundred meters. It demonstrated the sheer power of Raze’s form as he quickly lifted into the air again before Mosak could unleash his pulsating power.

“If you’re going to be annoying and stay in the air like that, then I’ll just have to take out the entire sky!” Mosak declared. He held his spear tightly as Qi glowed through his entire body, spiraling around the weapon.

Circular formations of Qi formed around the spear as Mosak tracked Raze in the air. He didn’t need to aim precisely-this attack would strike regardless.

Mosak hurled the spear into the air, and as it ascended, the Qi rings around it began breaking off. Each time a ring broke, the spear grew in size. After the third ring shattered, the spear had become gigantic, nearly covering the entire sky.

Hurtling at incredible speed, the massive spear struck Raze directly, knocking him out of the sky.

The sheer size of the spear made it difficult to see the damage it caused, but from the ground, Beatrix had been watching everything unfold. As the spear disappeared, breaking apart into the sky, a momentary golden light illuminated the area. Then, she saw Raze falling from the sky.

His arms were limp by his sides as he plummeted, eventually crashing hard onto the ground. “Well, I think that’s the end of that. It took more Qi than I would have liked,” Mosak said, noting the wounds on his forearms and the cut across his chest. “I think I’d better check to ensure he’s really been defeated.”

Raze groaned, feeling a deep wound in his stomach. He pressed his hand over it, trying to lift his body. The attack had done far more damage than he anticipated, and he wasn’t sure he could stand.

“Crap… Mosak’s heading this way… and I’ve used everything. Nothing has worked,” Raze thought, grunting in pain. Despite his condition, he knew he had to rise. He didn’t want things

to end here.

Mosak smiled as he approached but suddenly stopped. Right in front of Raze, a man had appeared seemingly out of nowhere.

Both Mosak and Raze were stunned as they saw Zon standing between them. The question on Raze’s mind was clear: “How did he appear so suddenly?”
