Chapter 1082: Fear The Unseen

With the plan set in motion and the help of others, Raze might even be able to pull off the entire situation in a single day, he believed. Which was a big relief. The words of Fixteen were in the back of his mind, that every time he did go away, something big seemed to happen. So he wanted to get it sorted even quicker than planned.

“Dark Spirit!” Harvey said. “I will get on the task as quickly as possible. It would be great if you could be involved in this as well. I believe showing the world your great powers will be able to strike fear and allow for holes to open up in our enemies as they scramble.

“Of course, I can handle this myself, but it was just a thought I had.”

“I will have to arrive at some point to claim the items,” Raze answered. “So if it comes to it and I have time, I will, but as you can see, I have other matters that I will be dealing with as well.”

“Very well, then I shall deal with this task instantly. I have one word or piece of advice for you in the future. If you are in a tricky situation, or one that requires you in need of help, then repeat the first part of the phrase.

“Fear The Unseen,” Harvey stated. “If a person is a member of the Dark Guild, they will reply back with, ‘For we are always near.’ If you hear this phrase repeated back, they are a member of the Dark Guild and will do whatever they can to help you.”

“We also say this when meeting with other members, just to make sure that there isn’t someone who has disguised themselves among us as well.”

Raze nodded, imprinting the words, and with that, Harvey had left, and it was just Kelly on her own.

“I don’t bring my magical watch with me into these meetings, so we’ll have to get to the surface. I don’t have direct contact with Alen, only Aurora, and honestly, I’m not sure she’ll reply, but we’ll have to go to the surface anyway,” Kelly answered.

Raze agreed, and clicking his fingers, his clothing had changed from a robe to a blazer, making him stand out less. The two ventured up outside while Sophie the magical cat still continued to follow them.

Heading outside, the daylight was strong. It was the middle of the day, but they were in a secluded alleyway. Unlike before, Kelly didn’t need to switch her clothes or hide them anymore. She had learned Dark magic enougb that had allowed her to just switch between clothing, which was certainly handy to have.

After grabbing her device, she had sent off a message to Aurora on it, explaining the situation. That her brother, that they had met that once, wished to meet with her brother. Kelly tried to be as nice as possible in the message, and even decided to try and get her to just contact her brother directly.

It wouldn’t be long till she got a reply, but she still felt nervous. To which, Raze suggested the two of them walk the streets of Alterian for now. After reliving the memory of Jake in his head, he had wanted to just see a bit more of Alterian.

The busy wide sidewalks were filled with people minding their own business. With magic being used on nearly every corner, and in every shop. There was even a floating giant teacup pouring into smaller cups as an advertisement.

“If all goes well, there was something I wanted you to look into. Are you able to head to the central academy library today?” Raze asked.

“There’s no classes today, but students can enter at any point to access its facilities. I’m assuming you want me to look up something this time,” Kelly replied.

“Right, last time you did a good job on finding out about a particular person, but I wanted you to find out details about something else. Look through current and past mages that have a special affinity with Time Magic.”

“Time Magic… that’s incredibly rare. Can’t the amount of people that deal with Time magic only be counted on one hand?” Kelly replied.

“Right, so it should be quite easy to find out something. I can’t think of any that were outstanding myself. It was more just a gimmick to stop a particular item midair, or such. But even if their is power is small, I would love to have information brought up on them, small and large.”

Kelly nodded. She understood why Raze might not want to go to the academy again. Particularly after what had occurred last time.

Just then, she could see her wristwatch vibrate, and a mystical image was shown. She read the message, and her cheeks started to flush red.

“Aurora’s agreed to help out, but she says she’ll only do it if you go on a date with her?” Kelly embarrassedly asked.

“A date with someone so young… it will be an annoyance for me,” Raze answered. “For now, just lie and say I agree. It wouldn’t be the worst thing that I have done.”

Kelly decided to reply, and was a little delighted that he had claimed that the date would be just that, a lie for the situation.

After a short while later, her wristwatch vibrated again, giving her another answer.

“She said her brother has agreed to meet, it will be at their manor which is located on the west side in Petersvile? Do you know where that is?” Kelly asked.

“If they give me the general location, I’m sure I can find it. I’ve been to that area before,” Raze answered.

“Well, he will meet you in two hours. So you have some time. I would suggest taking Sophie with you. She’s incisive and people think of her just as a pet, but she might become a handy ally in tricky situations.”

“Agreed, I won’t deny help,” Raze answered. “There is one more thing I wanted to ask you before we part ways though, how exactly did Harvey manage to grow the Dark Guild so

large?”

Chapter 1083: How Did The Dark Guild Grow

When Kelly had learned that she and Raze would have two hours together. She thought maybe she could get to know the Dark Magus more.

He had revealed who he was the last time they had met, and she had a lot of admiration for him. She wanted to thank him for saving her family in the past.

To shine the truth and light on the scum that were in her town, but she didn’t know how to say it without it sounding so strange and weird.

So instead, she was going to make the suggestion to go for lunch together, and perhaps bring up the conversation more naturally. Maybe it would even be like a… date.

Yet, the ideas, and the happy memories that spun in Kelly’s head quickly disappeared as the question was asked.

“You can perform a silence spell right? So no one can hear us?” Kelly asked.

“I already have done,” Raze replied. “Any talk of Dark magic and the Dark Guild should be kept just to us.”

Using such a spell in the middle of the street wouldn’t stand out either, as it was the norm for people to gossip, share secrets, and even openly talk about politics they disagreed and agreed with without having to worry about other’s opinions.

Even in a world of magic, the problems one’s shared in other worlds were always the same.

“Right, I guess I should answer. I’m sure Harvey would have told you himself,” Kelly answered. “Whenever he talks about it, he talks as if he’s extremely proud.”

“And judging by the way you’re speaking now, you don’t sound proud?”

Kelly hesitated to answer. Although the Dark Magus in her mind was more of a just person than others thought, was that true? Even Sophie had claimed that she wasn’t a good person with what she had done in the past.

Maybe it was only Kelly that believed that what the Dark Magus could do for the world would be truly good. Reluctantly, she decided to just explain, and see how Raze would react.

“What he does, it being good or bad, or unjust or not, is not for me to decide. It’s for you,” Kelly answered. “You should know Harvey’s real position as a chief police officer.”

“Because of that, he has a database he can access. Those who have a criminal record who are roaming the streets outside, and of course, those that he deals with on a case-to-case basis.” “For those that already have a criminal record, it’s hard for them to get back into society, to make a living. He convinces them to join the Dark Guild as a way into society.”

“Or to convince them that they can amount to something better. It all starts with teaching them Dark Magic. If they learn Dark Magic, then they are wanted by the outside world anyway. Surprisingly, these people have been more loyal than I thought.”

“They were forced, so I thought there would be some resistance, but it seems they’re happy with aiming for something, and I don’t know if Harvey gives them long speeches about you or what, but they look up to you.”

“As for the criminals he catches in the open, he states that they get away as long as a deal is made. In particular, I’ve seen some of the stronger members come from this batch.”

“And honestly, sometimes it’s hard to control them. Or at least it was. Since Harvey made this whole ranking system, it’s brainwashed them into thinking that they can’t go against anything we say!”

Kelly stopped there, as she realized she was ranting quite a bit. She was originally planning to just state the facts of the matter and not anything else.

To not try to sound as if she was biased against the whole idea.

“It appears that it has helped you grow as well. I can tell you’re a four-star mage now, correct?” Raze replied. “I guess with so many people joining, for you to keep your position as one of the founders, you have had to push yourself far, you did well.”

Hearing those words from Raze, gave a boost to her feelings. Instantly, she felt like her hard work had paid off, and she hadn’t been trying hard for no reason.

She wondered if this was how the Shadow Acolytes felt when she praised them as well. Often she would see this type of look on their face.

“I can see why you are upset or conflicted about Harvey’s methods. Essentially, he is placing people into a position where they can’t refuse.”

“The methods are ones that I wouldn’t use. Sometimes it’s good to have those like that on our side, to do the things that we are unwilling to do.”

“But the Dark Guild is needed if we want to go up against our enemies. And as long as their life in the guild itself is better for them, then so be it.”

“The one thing I dislike is the criminals themselves. I’m sure perhaps some of them have gone too far. If they’re strong in magic, their crimes couldn’t have been small.”

Raze was starting to think of what Trubin had done to his family, and how maybe some of those in the organization were the same.

“It’s an issue that can be sorted out later, but it is not my job to be the judge of this world,” Raze added.

Kelly understood and nodded. She was honestly just thankful that the Dark Magus didn’t tell her off for feeling this way. She wanted to know if she was the weird one in the situation. More than that though, she was somewhat happy with the Dark Magus’s answers as well. He wasn’t the truly evil man that people thought he was, at least in her eyes.

“Ah, It appears I have the direct location for you now. And it says her brother is ready to meet anytime,” Kelly answered as she realized she was at the station herself that would allow her a quick way to head back to the academy.

“We will meet back at the usual meeting place at the end of the day. Find out what you can,” Raze said, as the two of them parted ways.

Meanwhile, Harvey had managed to get in contact with all six hundred of the Dark Guild members.

Chapter 1084: One Favour, not Two

Alterian was a planet that had been unified under the banner of the Grand Magus. Countries were still independent and had their own governments, but they followed the rules stipulated and set out by the Grand Magus.

If a group didn’t follow those rules, then they would lose favor of the Grand Magus, and with the power, the guilds, and the force the Grand Magus had, no one wanted to lose favor.

However, there were still various groups that opposed their local governments. Guilds that worked on the dark market, and those that tried to gain control of their own countries outside of all of this.

With it, there was even a separate military force, the Radiant Order. They were filled with talented mages, with many recruited from the Central Academy.

They weren’t independent like the guilds, as they were a military force meant to only deal with internal matters in Alterian.

Because of the task, they were well compensated, especially the higher-ranking individuals. Outside of the metropolis were the Suburban areas. Large manors with plenty of land, a literal field with a giant garden at the back. And gates marked at the front.

Away from the extremely busy lives of the local people. On the second floor, straining out of a large pane window looking out of her front garden was Aurora.

She had been constantly peeking out through her curtain, straining at the waterfall area, just in front of her well-laid bushes and gravel ground.

That’s when she noticed the bushes starting to violently move. “He’s here, he has to be here!” Aurora said, hiding her body even more behind the curtain.

She could see a man with white hair, gracefully landing just in front of the water feature, with his hands by his side.

“It’s Jake, he’s finally here, and it might be me imagining things because I haven’t seen him for a while. But he looks even more hunky than before. His body is extremely well-built, and there’s almost a glow to his skin!” Aurora inwardly screamed and even bit her lip, as all sorts of thoughts were going through her head, as to just what she would do if she managed to get her hands on that body.

As for the improvements on Raze’s body. It was all because he had reached a higher stage as a warrior. The glowing skin was a result of that, including his well-defined facial features.

Even for a Pagna warrior, Raze was now above the normal means compared to a regular person. With his position, and the troubles around him, Raze didn’t even notice the people fawning over him when he walked through the city.

Quickly, Aurora checked herself in the mirror, and quickly started to run down the stairs, to head outside.

For Raze, as he entered the front entrance, he started to walk forward. That’s when he noticed a gardener, and several other staff members starting to head his way.

“This is certainly fancy. Instead of a small apartment in the city, could I have had something like this at this cost?” Raze thought, but thinking of such buildings and no one to share it with, had made him quite sad.

“A mage just flew over the entrance, gather everyone quickly!”

“Who are you, state why you’re here immediately!”

Several of the guards located on the outside, placed both hands out in front of them, magic circles started to form, and spells were ready to be released in an instant at Raze.

‘I expected this welcome if I was the Dark Magus, but not a welcome like this right now,’ Raze thought. ‘If I don’t manage to calm things down, I might just have to fight back… can I take all of these on without using magic?’

Raze started to wonder as Wind magic began to swirl all around his body, lifting up the gravel off the ground.

“WAIT!” A voice shouted, and a woman in a fluffy large dress started to run across. “Everyone stand down, stand down! That man! He’s a guest, he’s a guest of my brother, didn’t I already inform you all!”

The mages, seeing who was the one shouting, started to place their hands down, and Raze recognized the girl slightly from his time at the academy.

Eventually, Aurora reached them, and placed her head down greeting Raze.

“I think next time, it would be best if you didn’t fly over the gate, then we could have welcomed you properly,” Aurora said.

“Right, right, sorry, I didn’t realize there would be so many people here. If you could please take me to see your brother, that would be helpful,” Raze asked.

Aurora bowed down once again, and then started to lead the way. Her legs were nervous, her mouth was turning dry. She didn’t know what to say as she took Raze through the manor.

She started to remember what had occurred the last time the two had met. She had even used a dangerous spell that had almost killed his dear sister.

Since that day, she had stopped picking on Kelly, but it was hard to come back from that, and the two weren’t exactly close.

Before she knew it, they had walked through the manor towards the back door, and now were in the grand garden filled with land.

A particular red-haired man, wearing a military blazer that was buttoned up, was outside. This was Alen.

A talented mage that was already pinned to be the next Grand Magus. He was wearing white gloves, and licking his fingers constantly as he cast fire spell after fire spell in the air.

He was moving his body fluidly, and athletically along with the fire. Almost as if he was doing a dance. Raze had to admit the magic was quite spectacular and wasn’t the type of magic display that he used to show.

Eventually, he stopped and turned to Raze, noticing him and his sister.

“You’re earlier than I expected. I guess this means you really wanted to see me,” Alen said, wiping the sweat from the top of his head. “Aurora, I would like to have a private conversation with this man, so can you make sure no one comes and disturbs us.”

“You got it!” She said with her thumb up and continued to stand there.

“That includes you,” Alen added.

Aurora’s face turned bright red, and quickly she had decided to run back inside the building.

“I thought I would never see you again after that day. After all, you already used your one- time favor, and I had allowed you to escape,” Alen commented. “So why are you here in front of me right now, after all this time?”

“Well, can I ask you a question, why did you accept to see me? Did you do what I asked of you last time, to look into Enaxx, to try and find out more of the truth?” Raze asked.

Chapter 1085: Gather The Unseen

The world of Alterian worked just as many other societies did. With several different jobs in a large number of sectors. There were those that worked on the upkeep of the streets, building the cities.

Others that worked as lawyers in criminal cases, you had convenience store workers, students, and more. All of them working to fit in the current society one way or another.

One individual worked in a convenience store where they were wearing a bright green uniform. Serving customers one after the other.

“Hey, do you mind warming up my coffee a little more? You’re a heating mage, right?” An old

woman asked from the other side of the counter. “Usually they hire microwaves like you here.”

“Microwaves? If you’re calling me a microwave, why don’t you use your own damned microwave!” the worker wanted to shout out, but decided to smile instead.

The convenience store he worked at was considered slightly more high-end because it used real people to serve. And things like heating up coffee and meals were done by mages using their magic, rather than devices.

It gave them an edge, and it made people feel a bit better. It helped the economy with providing jobs, and locals thought they were supporting other mages.

However, not everyone was thankful for this. Some felt like it was a slap in the face. They weren’t good enough to get anything else, so here they were, their magic being reduced to just this in the end.

“Your food is nice and warm. I studied hard with my fire skills just to warm that food right up for you!” The worker said with a smile and handed the food back.

“What the–it’s not even hot enough. No wonder you work in a place like this. I’ll just heat it up myself, broken microwave.” The woman said as she walked and started to use her own magic to heat the food.

The young worker’s eye started to twitch.

‘She had fire magic this whole time, yet still decided to use me. This life sucks so much…’ As the worker placed his head on the counter, he noticed his wristwatch lighting up. Immediately he lifted his head, tapped it, and the message was played out in his head. “Hey, Greg!” The worker shouted. “I have a family emergency, I need to go.”

Without a second thought, the young man had jumped over the counter and left with a big smile on his face.

At the same time, throughout the city, multiple individuals were receiving messages on their magical devices. Some of them placed on a wristwatch of sorts, others placed on their ears. Once receiving a message, it would play it in audio form to the mind.

A message that only the user would hear, and once hearing this message, a string of actions had occurred after it.

In an office, a man in a suit and tie was in the middle of a presentation.

“Sorry, it looks like I will have to cut the meeting early today. I will be seeing you all later.”

Another individual, a cleaner, looked left and right before quickly cleaning the halls with water magic and then proceeded to move.

Another, a teacher in class who never turned up for their students, and instead a supply had come in.

These individuals were all walking the streets after receiving a message and then took turns into the various alleyways located in the city.

As they turned, they walked until they reached a manhole cover. This was the same for the convenience store worker.

The convenience store worker noticed an individual standing up against a wall, not too far from the manhole, and waited.

“Fear the unseen.” The man standing there said.

“For we are always near.” The convenience store worker replied. With that, he reached down and cast a small essence of Dark Magic.

The manhole activated and began to move. The ladder descending down to the world below

was seen.

“You should take off your name badge, Tim.” The man said on the side.

“It’s not safe for people to know your real name.”

The convenience store worker Tim smiled as he reached for his name badge and placed it away, and with that, he had descended into the underworld.

Eventually reaching the bottom, Tim had jumped down, and he was navigating his way through the crude living area. The city below.

As he walked, he could see that there were many others down here that looked like him. Wearing clothes from the world above, that didn’t fit in, were heading to the same position.

‘It looks like something big is happening this time. Everyone’s gotten the message. I didn’t even know the guild was so big either.’

Eventually, Tim had reached the location. It was what looked like an old town square, a park of sorts that had a crumbled wooden platform that was raised slightly above.

Large amounts of people had gathered. Some wearing mage robes to cover their appearance, others who were just in their regular clothing like Tim.

He also noticed that the higher-ranked Voidbinders were placed at the front, around thirty of them in total. The ones that were stronger when it came to Dark Magic.

Eventually, a whirlwind of Dark Magic had appeared on the wooden stage, and as the Dark Magic faded into nothing but particles, a man with a pointed robe stood on the stage itself.

It was the Dread Magister, Harvey.

“Fear the unseen!” Harvey said.

“For we are always near!” The others repeated back instantly, and then everyone started to go down on one knee. They followed, and Tim did the same quickly to not offend.

“The time for us to act has finally come, the time for the whole world to know of the Dark Guild’s existence has come!” Harvey shouted. “We have received orders from the Dark Spirit. Today is the day the world will learn of the Dark Guild!”

Chapter 1086: A New Way To Break through

The last time Raze and Alen had met was when Raze had gone to the academy under the disguise as Kelly’s brother. He had gone hoping to reach his vault of secret items.

Reaching it, although most things appeared to have been taken from the vault, he had managed to obtain his special Blazer that had been crafted by his late wife Sabrina.

The issue was when leaving the vault, there was one person waiting for him: Alen himself.

Alen had been following Raze during the special event, noticing that there was something off about him, and also was curious as to just what type of mage he was.

Seeing him sneak out of a secret room in the academy wasn’t exactly a good look, but due to events that had occurred previously, Alen had said he owed him one favor, and Raze had decided to use that favor so that Alen could let him go.

Alen was true to his word, something that was rare for Raze to find, but Raze didn’t just leave; he left him with a particular message, not just to the Grand Magus.

With Alen being in the position he was, and constantly around Enaxx, he believed that he would one day find something, and maybe it would be a seed that planted a change.

However, there was a chance that it could wither up into nothing as well, just like the many plants that Raze had attempted. If they turned into nothing, that was fine with him as well. Now they were in this situation where they were facing each other again.

“You came all this way to talk about that?” Alen laughed. “If I had found something, do you really think you would have heard about it on the news by now? I’m not a person to sit around and do nothing.”

“No, you’re right, because if you did find out something, then you would be dead,” Raze added.

There was a moment of silence between the two.

“I looked into things because you piqued my curiosity,” Alen explained. “But there’s nothing solid, just a bunch of rumors and conspiracy theories. Things just don’t line up based on the evidence that is out there. I didn’t realize you were the type to believe in conspiracy theories.” “A talented mage like yourself, then again, people from all sorts tend to dive deep into things.”

“And yet a part of you must believe them, right?” Raze replied. “If they were just baseless conspiracy theories, then why would you tell your sister to leave?”

Alen had a straightforward look on his face for a moment before he let out a big sigh.

“Look, what are you trying to do? Are you trying to ruin my life?” Alen asked. “Or did you have something important to talk about? Since a man sneaking around the academy, and a person I can get no details about, contacted me, I thought it might be a good chance to bring in a hardened criminal. So, are we going to be fighting today, or what?”

From Raze’s observation, Alen was a six-star mage, just like himself. One that mainly focused just on fire magic. In a standard fight between mages, focusing on one element was a bad thing to do.

That was if you weren’t talented in the first place. Sure, the low-star levels had to focus on which affinities were better at beating others, but when a mage got to the higher stages, learning more advanced spells and magic that aligned with your core would triumph over a mage that put an equal amount of time into all of their elements.

For Raze, who currently specialized in Dark Magic, even with his vast knowledge of magic in stars above, it would be a hard fight.

“I’ll be honest with you, right now I am struggling with breaking through my core,” Raze explained. “Since you are from the Radiant Order, I presumed that you knew of ways for mages to break through easier.”

“The most advanced military in the world that even gets support from Gizin, the Grand Magus. Surely they wouldn’t let you guys fall behind.”

“There is the need for a shortcut of some kind at times.”

“Someone as skillful as you not being able to break through, I don’t buy it; it makes no sense,” Alen laughed. “What’s your magic core?”

“Wind,” Raze answered instantly without hesitation. It was his previous core in his last life, but he realized that might have been a mistake.

“Now I’m even more confused, the easiest magic core to break through with. Although now that I think about it, if you can’t for whatever reason, that really is an emergency,” Alen pondered, rubbing his hand against his chin.

“I’ll be honest, I do think we have something that would be able to help you. It’s not a permanent solution; it’s something that was designed by Gizin, and its effects lessen with each use.”

“It’s just like you said, it’s a special inhalant device created by Gizin himself. It forces one’s core to break through, but each time the device is used, the less time one can spend in its breakthrough form, regardless of the amount of mana a user has.”

“It’s meant to help one get the feeling of breaking through and then learning how to do so on their own. So, I think it could help you. I’m perhaps one of the few people that can get their hands on such things.”

This was what Raze was looking for. Who knew what would happen in his fight against Alter? There was a chance, just like with his fight against the Behemoth Clan, he would need to use all powers he had, despite him being stronger than he was before. The power of a nine-star mage was a great help to a battlefield.

“But, what benefit do I get from giving you this? We are not friends,” Alen claimed.

Raze felt like Alen was having fun, telling him just what he needed and all its effects to say this, but Raze did have a plan, one that he had just formed recently through conversation. “What you said earlier, when you looked into things. There’s a reason why you claimed they were baseless conspiracy theories. Reasons why you can’t say for 100 percent certainty that Enaxx was the one behind them.”

“It was just as you said, right? Things just didn’t add up. What if I said I would give you the one piece of information that would clear up all of your doubts, the one thing that has been tugging at the back of your mind through all of this at once?”

Chapter 1087: The Connection That Makes It All Fit

The large curiosity that had been digging at the back of Alen’s mind for the longest time could be answered. At first, he wasn’t even interested in looking at matters revolving around Enaxx.

Although they weren’t exactly close, Enaxx had somewhat taken Alen under his wing, teaching him how to use the fire element at a more advanced level, also bringing him a large number of spells. Alen had felt this type of treatment before-people trying to gain favor with him because of his skills and talents.

It felt less like he was being used when it was one of the Grand Magus. After all, what could he gain from Alen being on his side, a person who had everything?

It was until the recent interview with Enaxx that curiosity had reappeared in Alen’s mind: the death of the famous reporter. Many felt like it was Enaxx’s doing.

There were a large number of people even blaming him, until evidence came out claiming that it was impossible for him to do such a thing.

This event had reminded him of the words that were spoken so long ago. Yet the further he dived in, the more he didn’t understand.

With his position, he was able to get access to all of the missions that Enaxx had been a part of. He could even ask for favors from police forces and more on different events that had occurred involving Enaxx.

It was the same pattern that was appearing again and again: large war crimes, cruelty beyond what a normal person was capable of; the death of those that had wronged Enaxx in the smallest ways; and sometimes, deaths of those that could only benefit Enaxx.

Seeing all of the reports on a single individual, never had Alen seen things pointed at one person more than any other. Each time, though, there was evidence that had cleared Enaxx, that showed that it was impossible that it couldn’t have been Enaxx’s doing. For Alen, though, even this was suspicious. All of the evidence that made it so Enaxx was cleared-it was too clean.

The evidence that it couldn’t be him: Enaxx was at a grand event. There was filming, multiple witnesses, in a large, crowded place.

Every single time when he was the main suspect, it was decided that it couldn’t have been him. The matter was driving Alen mad, and if he dived too far, he thought he would get caught up in all of this.

He might even be selected as a target, which was why he had spoken those words the first time he had met ‘Jake’.

Looking at Raze, Alen quickly lifted his hands and flicked his fingers. Two small, bullet-sized fireballs shot out in the air and swirled right towards Raze.

They were incredibly fast that Raze didn’t even have time to react, and instead, his Blazer had reacted instead. The barrier activated, stopping the attack.

“That’s quite the powerful magical blazer you have. It’s not something a normal person can get their hands on,” Alen commented.

“What is this? Have you decided to fight me instead? You want me to force the information out of you?” Raze replied, as he needed to be ready to use whatever it was that he needed.

“I just wanted to make sure you were skilled enough to at least block that,” Alen answered. “I still have no idea who you really are. I’m wondering how someone that I’ve never heard of can even obtain such sensitive information that’s not available to someone like me.”

“And I said before, if you know this information, then how are you alive?”

Raze was a bit stumped with the situation he was in. After all, what was he meant to say that cleared him? Alen wouldn’t let him go with a half-answer.

Still, Raze had eventually figured out something that might work.

“You looked into all of the cases involving Enaxx. There should have been one that stood out. It would have been from a while ago now, but you should know the name I’m using right now. The name of Jake is not my real name. The name Jake Dove is the name of someone who is quite dear to me.”

“Jake Dove?” It took a while as Alen went through his memory bank of all of the cases, and it finally hit him.

‘That talented mage researcher! There was an incident where he had publicly met Enaxx face to face, and not long after, his entire family had perished, with himself breaking out and perishing himself after as well.’

‘It was one of the incidents that Enaxx was cleared of being a suspect. Many online thought that he was a possible suspect. Why is he using his name, though… wait! I seem to recall that Jake had a son.’

‘It was reported that the son died, but is that really the case? Or maybe Jake had more than one child that was unknown, a secret affair. He would be around this age.’

‘A revenge story for his father, and a talented mage-that makes sense.’

Raze had no idea what was swirling through Alen’s mind right now, whether his plan was working or not, or the grand made-up story he had made.

Perhaps through too much research, Alen was trying to find threads with everything now, making him try and make this connection as well.

“Very well, I will give you what you asked for in exchange for information on the Grand Magus. So tell me, what is the answer that will solve all of this?”

Raze answered as he thought back to the multiple times he had fought against Enaxx, even successfully killing him a few times. That was right, Raze had succeeded in his task, or at least he thought.

“Enaxx has a special trait, which makes him quite the dangerous Grand Magus, a unique trait to just him. Enaxx has the magical ability to clone his body… and he can do so more than just once,” Raze answered.
