Chapter 1100: Why His Name Everywhere

With how many police officers were in the area, and with how much magic had been cast, the Dark Guild members who were attempting to escape would have been hit by the attacks in some sort of way.

On top of that, even if they managed to break out of the formation, then they would be pursued, and it would be hard to lose the officers before changing their clothing and getting back to their everyday life.

Yet, the police officers’ attacks had been stopped, and it was by one man.

“I’m telling you, Chief, right now to comply with the orders!” Alen shouted. “Those people in there, they were told they would be safe. If I don’t stop you, then all of their lives will be lost because of something that I said!”

“So I will do everything in my power to stop you. Do you want to make an enemy of me as well!”

The chief looked ahead for a moment, looking into Alen’s eyes. Would Alen really fight back the police force, regardless of his position, for just a simple promise, or was it some type of bluff?

Lifting up his bracelet, the chief had made the decision. “All officers, stand down, do not pursue, I repeat, do not pursue, this is a direct order.”

After the message had been sent out, Alen waited for a moment. He saw the first set of Dark Guild members fly over the police force, and just as ordered, not a single one of them had given chase to the Dark Guild members.

“Hey, they’re really not following us!” A member said.

“Right, it was just as the Dark Magus said. How could he have predicted this? He’s amazing!”

“That’s the person who we follow. You saw his power, how he appeared out of nowhere, and his determination. We are members of that guild!” Another member said as they continued to rush off.

“I better head inside,” Alen said. “Before he runs away. If we can protect the people and get him, it will be a success.”

Raze was now on his own with the hostages in question. Around four hundred people who had gathered, most of them were mages themselves. A mix of students wishing to perhaps join the Orian Guild or see what joining a guild was like.

While their parents were there to support them. Never had they imagined their day would turn into an event like this. Most of them were scared from maybe never going into the field again.

“Why… why is this happening to us?” A young female student cried as she fell to her knees. The adrenaline running through her body, along with the series of events, was too much for her as she fell to the floor and started to cry.

Her mother immediately knelt down and started to comfort her, and began to rub the top of her head. “Shhh, shh, it’s okay, it’s okay, we’re nearly out now, it’s going to be okay.”

“Shut your daughter up,” another man sneered. “Or we’re all going to be killed.”

“Don’t worry,” Raze answered from the podium. “I won’t take your lives. I’m not a saint by any means. I never declared myself as a good person, but I am not a person who will kill recklessly.”

“Getting rid of you will not further my goal in the slightest. As much as you all may think, I am not a madman,” Raze answered.

“Right, you say that, yet you caused all of this,” Alen answered as he had returned. “So stick to your promise now; you’re going to let all of these people go, right?”

Raze nodded as he was on stage and waved his hand, gesturing for them to leave. Everyone was frightened to take the first step. Seeing this, Alen walked to the girl on the floor and lifted her hand.

“If he attacks, I’ll protect you, don’t worry,” Alen stated as he walked her to the door and saw that the robed man did nothing. It was slow at first, only a few people exiting from the guild, but they all soon hurried, rushing out of the door.

Finally, everyone was out of the room, and now the only two left were Alen, who was on the ground, and Raze, who was standing there on the stage.

“You kept your promise, and although I think you’re a sick man for doing all of this, I have to thank you for keeping your word,” Alen stated. “But now, it’s time for me to take you down and bring you in.”

“Haha, yes, a deal is a deal,” Raze answered. “Unfortunately, I promised to only stay with the hostages until they were gone. I never promised that the two of us would fight.”

Alen felt like a fool as he raised both hands, ready to cast a spell, but before he knew it, the robed man in front of him, his entire body disappeared, and he knew it was useless. Quickly, Alen jumped from his position, producing fire magic from his hands, and he landed on the platform.

He tried to look for any traces of anything.

“Teleportation magic, but that’s impossible, there’s no circle here, or anything drawn on the ground. Was it an artifact, then? Damn it, damn it!” Alen said as he slapped his hand on top of his forehead.

“So many crazy things have happened today, him coming to visit me and this. My head is really filled at the moment… I don’t even know if I’m doing the right things anymore.”

The event was all everyone could talk about, with news reports constantly covering what had happened to the Orian Guild, and the main tagline of it all was: The Dark Magus Returns! It was plastered everywhere, and no matter where one looked, they had known of the event.

In a large central glass building in the center of the city, with a golden ‘I’ placed on the outside, at one of the very top floors, a particular man was sitting at his desk. Wearing white gloves, both of them had golden markings of the letter ‘I’ placed on them. “The Dark Magus… died that day. All of us saw it, so how could this have happened? In Pagna, in Alterian, why is it everywhere I go, I am hearing his name?”

Chapter 1101: A Way To Combat Time

The Dark Guild members had managed to escape from a tough situation. When they were far enough from the scene, they had quickly shifted from their dark robes, changing into their regular clothing.

It was one of the first techniques that Harvey made sure to teach them all, as secrecy being discovered was of utmost importance. The larger the network of Dark Guild members in the world of Alterian, the easier it was to achieve their goal.

Slowly, it would break down the large networks, the large guilds, and more that were all built up by the Grand Magus. For Harvey, he had decided to head underground, moving to a particular meeting place.

As he walked through, most of the underground inhabitants ignored him, not even having basic access to what was going on above, nor caring about what others were doing, just struggling and thinking about where they were going to get their next meal.

Eventually, Harvey had reached the fallen church, the usual gathering place, where two guards were currently present.

“Fear the unseen!” The Guard said.

“For we are always near!” Harvey said in a joyous voice. “I love it, I love it, everything worked out perfectly.”

“Worked out perfectly?” A female voice said.

When Harvey entered the regular fallen seating area, he could see another individual was waiting in the same place. Just by her robes, he knew that it was Kelly. She was sitting on top of a fallen pillar-like structure of sorts with her arms folded.

“I saw what happened; I mean, I think everyone saw what happened,” Kelly said. “Was that really your plan? You even ended up getting the Dark Magus involved.”

“Right, and it worked out perfectly. The losses to the Dark Guild were minimal thanks to everything that happened. I had expected greater losses, but due to the Dark Magus’s quick thinking, everything worked out!”

It was hard for Kelly to try and talk to Harvey when he was like this. He was the original person who had found her, making this group of theirs together, but the more she spent with him, the more she was realizing she didn’t exactly like his ways.

If the Dark Magus hadn’t gotten involved, a lot of Dark Guild members might have died. Equally, when trying to escape, those members would have fought for their lives, and even more would have perished.

She had heard further details from existing members as she had asked them to give her an update on the situation, so she knew a lot more than just what was shown on the large screen.

“What are you doing here anyway?” Harvey asked. “Is there something you wanted to talk about? Maybe we should discuss the next moves of the Dark Magus. There’s problems in the academy, and Ibarin is there, right? Maybe if the students start learning magic, we can start to cause chaos from the root of all of this.”

Kelly quickly stood and shook her hands. “We shouldn’t try to do things freely on our own,” Kelly answered. “The Dark Magus has his reasons for doing things and asking us to do them in a particular order. I’m sure you have realized it as well.”

This was the only way for Kelly to somewhat calm down Harvey whenever he had these radical ideas, was to say that it wasn’t the Dark Magus’s way, or his way of thinking about things.

She was sure, if Harvey was on his own, and they had never met the Dark Spirit, the oath of the entire guild, along with her, would have gone very differently.

“I’m actually here to meet the Dark Magus. He said he would arrive soon, as he wanted to know what I found out for him,” Kelly replied.

“You’re right, you’re right, we can’t predict what the Dark Magus can do. He is a man whose caliber is far above our own! He is able to foresee what needs to be done. I’m sure the task he gave you is to all line up for the future. Did you see, the man could even use a sword better than a top sword mage! The Dark Magus… is truly the gifted one that will come and reset this world.”

When she heard Harvey talk like this, she often thought about what had happened to him. Why did he start to learn dark magic? She knew her own reasons, her reasons for supporting the dark mage, but what were Harvey’s? What would a chief police officer possibly want to learn dark magic for?

In the middle of the thoughts and the rambling, both of them turned their heads to the usual spot, as they could see particles start to gather, and eventually, as always, the Dark Spirit had formed a full-fledged body in front of them.

“Well, that situation turned out a lot better than I expected it would,” Raze said to himself. “I managed to get out of that with as little fighting as possible.”

Immediately, Harvey got down on one knee, and seeing this, Kelly did the same.

“It was spectacular, Dark Magus!” Harvey said. “And thanks to your hard work, most of the guild members were able to get out. I’m sure now everyone will know the guild’s name and your name.”

“That’s good. I wanted to check up on things. For now, it’s best if the Dark Guild stays low after a large event. I’m sure they, as well as the general public, will be worried, wondering when we will strike next. It will put a lot of fatigue on them, and we also have to sit and observe, waiting to see what they do.”

It was the first time for Raze that he was going after the Grand Magus and he had help by his side, so he had to do things slightly differently as to how he would do them himself.

“As for you, did you manage to gather information?”

Kelly pulled out a journal that magically appeared in her hands and then handed it over to Raze. With a quick look, he could see all of the recorded names of those that knew Time Magic. On top of that, everything that was known to do with Time Magic.

“On the list is the last emperor of Alterian, just like he said,” Raze muttered to himself.

‘This journey has been far better than I expected. I might have just figured out a way to combat Time Magic as well.’

Chapter 1102: A Big Problem

It was a makeshift plan for Raze, but when he urgently needed to appear in front of cameras and screens, he needed to think of something to hide his identity fast. He had given away the robe that covered his face, and the effects of the robe, in the first place, were subpar compared to the blazer that he had.

So he had used his Dark Magic to cover his robe, as well as his face. Constantly activating it was a hard task, but Raze didn’t worry too much about running out of mana at the time. If he did, then simply his body would have disappeared, and he still had his special Cursed Pill that could have activated.

The answer that Alen had given him in order to beat Time Magic was to activate his Dark Magic first. So this was one way, but he would quickly lose the fight doing so. So the answer was to enchant his current equipment with a type of Dark Magic enchantment.

‘When enchanting with Dark Magic, there are two ways. To use the effect of Dark Magic, creating a higher-tier item, but making it cursed in the process. Or secondary was to attach an attribute of Dark Magic itself. In this case, it would work more like a regular enchantment on an item.

‘The best thing to do is to enchant the current blazer I have, but to try and do that and figure out a way not to interfere with the current effects of the product. It might be difficult for me to do. Unless there is an equal amount of power behind the enchantment, one would just absorb the other… on top of that, it would mean altering the blazer that was left for me by Sabrina.’

It was a lot for Raze to think about, but it was a good chance, a step in the right direction to allow him to best Henio’s time magic, to have a more even playing ground when fighting him, and Sabrina’s item would still be aiding him; he would still have the last thing that was crafted by her hands.

“Is everything okay, Dark Magus!” Harvey shouted again, since he realized Raze had been silent for a while.

“Yes, all is well. For now, as I said, stay low, stay on top of any changes by the Grand Magus and the guilds in general, and wait for my return. I don’t know when I will be back, but it seems you have a good system in place to be notified. You have done a good job, Harvey. And as for you, Kelly, I can’t thank you enough for this information; it has helped clear my head.”

Both of them were smiling inside as they placed their faces towards the floor. They didn’t want the Dark Magus to see the dumb look on their faces, even if it was covered up by the special effect of their robe.

“With that, I will see the two of you off,” Raze said. He had finished his task early, and now it was time for him to prepare weapons and head to the funeral of Belil in the Neverfall Clan. As he was ready to disintegrate his magic and break the astral projection spell, he saw Sophie landing right in front of them.

She let out a loud snarl towards Raze, and all the hairs on her black body stood up. Soon, Dark Magic came out from her body.

“What’s going on?” Raze thought, canceling his spell, noticing that something was up.

Soon words started to form in the air with Dark Magic, spelling out a message.

“Something happened at the manor?” Raze read out loud.

The Dark Magic disappeared and started to reform once again.

“To the girl, that man’s sister.”

There was only one manor that Raze and Sophie had been to together, and that was Alen’s. As for the girl, it could only be his sister.

After a tough day, Alen had decided to head back to the manor for some much-needed rest. He knew the days ahead weren’t going to be easy. It would be filled with answering questions to the police, to the Radiant Order, and more.

On top of that, he didn’t even know what he wanted to do with the information he had learned. When he had headed inside and sat down on his sofa, looking up, he noticed something.

‘Is there a hole in the ceiling… Where did that come from?’ Alen thought.

As he stood up, he ventured upstairs into the room. “Aurora! Aurora!” Alen shouted, but there was no reply. “Was she playing with some type of magic and made that hole? Did she go out without telling me… but she wouldn’t have in this situation.”

Alen decided to search, and just in case, he also asked any of the guards and staff around, but not a single person had seen her. It wasn’t too strange; she was an adult and could do things herself.

With magic, it wouldn’t be a surprise if no one saw her as well, but with everything that had happened, he was just a little on edge, believing that something just didn’t feel right.

‘I know she says I already nag her too much, but the Dark Guild members are out there in public; she needs to be careful. I wonder what happened to Jake as well?’ Alen thought. Using his wrist device, he tried to connect to her, but there was nothing, no response, no signal, no answer; it just didn’t connect. The wrist device could be used from anywhere in the world; the only time they wouldn’t work was if they were broken.

“What happened…”

At the same time, Raze was reading in detail through Sophie’s Dark Magic what had exactly occurred. He feared that Sophie might have accidentally killed her, but the reality of the situation might have been far worse.

“You’re saying, a portal opened right in front of her… and she got sucked into it?”

Chapter 1103: Life in Another World (Part 1)

‘What is going on?’ Aurora thought as her mind was in a panic. Her whole world felt like it was twisting, wrapping away right in front of her eyes.

‘One moment, I was trying to deal with that annoying cat that kept messing up my magic circle, and then… and then… before I knew it, something strange zapped in front of me. It was powerful; the mana was unimaginable, and it felt like I had been sucked in… and now… and now.’

Aurora raised her hand to her head, wondering if something had happened, or a spell had been cast on her, but she could sense no such thing. She could sense no mana at all. Instead, putrid smells filled her nose.

The dust in the air was heavy, and the grumbling sounds of constant chatter going around her were all that she could hear.

“Where am I?” Aurora asked.

The people who were walking past her, who was standing in the middle of a stone flooring, stared for a few moments, as they continued on their way, making sure to stay away from her as if she was a mad person.

“I don’t understand. Did I get transported somewhere, but everything looks so old? There’s people selling things from market stalls. Kids with muddy hands running about through the open street, and food is being cooked outside!” Aurora said. “Not just that, I don’t even understand what they’re saying. Don’t the people of Alterian just have one language?”

Looking around, Aurora had no idea where she was, and so in this foreign land, the first action was to figure it out. Walking, she wanted to see if she would notice anything familiar. She had already tried to use her communication bracelet, but it hadn’t worked at all.

As she continued through the streets, she was looking for buildings, a guild base, anything, but there seemed to be nothing that she could recognize. She had been to quite a few different countries thanks to her brother’s position, but she had never stumbled in such a place before.

In the end, she decided that she had no choice but to ask a few people where she was. She had attempted to ask the market people, but she couldn’t understand what they were saying, and it seemed like they couldn’t understand what she was saying either.

When they knew she wasn’t there to buy anything, they just shooed her away with their hands. “My feet are starting to hurt because of this stone flooring,” Aurora complained. “Should I just use Wind magic… speaking of, I don’t think I’ve even seen anyone use any magic since I got here. Everyone is using their hands, or their own fire.”

“MOVE!”

Aurora heard a loud voice from behind. She couldn’t understand the words, but she quickly moved to the side, as a horse pulling a cart went right past her. It skimmed in a big pool of mud which splattered all across Aurora’s face.

“I hate this… I hate this… Alen, where are you… where are you!” Aurora said as she wiped the mud from her face and almost allowed the tears to flow down.

Eventually, though, she had to reassure herself, knowing there was something that she needed to do to get out of this position. Help wasn’t going to come to her, not in this land. However, there was one similarity in this world.

“Grrr.” A small grumble coming from her stomach was felt.

“Damn it,” Aurora said, holding onto her stomach. “I didn’t even eat anything because I knew that Jake was coming over; I didn’t want to feel bloated, and now I’m starving in this… this… I don’t even know where this is.”

From her observation, she could see that everyone was using coins to trade as well. Her bracelet was everything in Alterian, where she could pay for whatever she wanted.

“I guess the only thing I could do is try,” Aurora thought as she ventured inside one of the restaurants from the street. The restaurant was quite large, filled with around thirty benches with men and women eating steamed buns, noodles, and a number of other things.

It looked to be more like a canteen where people lined up, selected the food they wanted on a wooden tray. Aurora lined up and could see she was getting a few stares from everyone already; her clothes were vastly different from others, having bright blue colors and more.

As she lined up, she continued to move ahead, and eventually placed a few buns, not knowing what was inside them, on her plate. She continued moving along until she got to a man that was standing at the end and had his hand held out.

She then went to the blazer she was wearing and ripped off one of the gems that was adorned across the crease and placed it down.

“That is a gem that could buy you an entire estate in the center of Livton. I hope you understand what you’re getting is an extremely good deal,” Aurora said. Even though she knew they couldn’t understand her, she just hoped that he could understand.

“What is this? This isn’t even a power stone. This crystal is useless,” the man said as he threw the item on the floor. “If you have no coin, then no food.”

Seeing such a precious gem thrown onto the floor like that, she had no idea what to do now; it was her only chance of getting something to eat.

“What’s wrong? Does the pretty lady not have any money?” A man said behind her.

Hearing voices, Aurora turned her head and could see a man with an eyepatch and a large sword covering his back.

“I’ll tell you what, since you’re quite pretty, I’ll pay for the food for you,” the man suggested.

“I… don’t understand what you’re trying to say?” Aurora asked.

The man, hearing the strange words, raised an eyebrow. “A communication problem, I see. How about this?” The man then pointed to the food and imitated eating it, then he pointed to Aurora. Finally, with his two hands, he connected his index finger with his thumb, making a circle, and then with his other hand and index finger, he proceeded to move the finger into the circle.

Immediately, the man started to laugh after, as Aurora’s fists were shaking. “You think… that someone like me… would be so low, to do such a thing… just for food!” Aurora said as she lifted her head and then opened her hand. Immediately, flames appeared, causing the man to

step back.

“If you suggest that, I’ll burn your dick off!” Aurora shouted.

Chapter 1104: Life in Another World (Part 2)

Seeing the flames appear in the woman’s hands made everyone almost jump back. Even the restaurant workers behind the counters flinched as they looked at the fire in her hands. They didn’t understand it.

How was a person able to produce a flame, and not only that, to have it constantly there and not burning the person itself.

“Is that visual Qi?” the warrior with the sword on his back said. “Are you trying to threaten me, little girl? You have no idea who I am, do you.”

The man who was standing behind her had decided to pull the sword from his back and pointed it right at her. Seeing as there was a fight that appeared as if it was about to start, several of those in the restaurant started to move away and were no longer queuing up for their food.

“You’re pointing your sword at me… you can’t just go around and point large swords at people unless you’re willing to fight!” Aurora said. “Just because you’re a magic swordsman, you really think that you can deal with me!”

Seeing the major threat that was on hand, and what the man said before, Aurora threw her hand, and the fire grew into a giant fireball. As the attack came towards him, the man swung his sword down, embedding his Qi into his body and the sword.

It cut through the fireball, but parts of it broke off and hit his body.

“ARGHH, it’s hot!” The man said as he swung his body, dwindling the flames that had touched him. “What kind of visual Qi is that?”

‘He cut through the fireball? Is it Wind magic he just used?’ Aurora thought.

The man, angered, gritted his teeth and then decided to charge forward, running at her.

That was when Aurora lifted both hands in the air. “You… even after that, you’re coming to attack me! That is not how you treat a woman!”

The man stopped before charging forward as he could see a giant fireball that was raised above the woman’s head. It was three times bigger than the last one, and after feeling the pain of the last one, the man was frightened. For the first time, he was frightened by something he didn’t understand.

‘I don’t think this is visual Qi…’

A large explosion had occurred, and the front of the restaurant was destroyed, and flames covered the outside. Soon, though, wind flowed through, dwindling the flames, extinguishing them as they broke down into nothing but particles.

Immediately, people started to rush out of the restaurant.

“It’s a witch, a fire witch! Everybody run. It’s a witch, a witch!”

People were running, shouting all over the place, while Aurora herself, looking at what she had just done, raised her hand to her face.

‘Crap, I didn’t mean to go that far… I hope my brother can deal with this situation. He’s good at this type of stuff, right, right?’

With her stomach still a bit hungry, for now, she decided to take a few of the steamed buns. She shoved one in her face as she walked forward, but the moment she had stepped out of the restaurant, she could see several people on the street having drawn their swords and had them all pointed toward her.

“Stop, Fire Witch!” The people shouted.

Aurora did stop, not because she understood them but because of the sheer amount of people.

“This is all a misunderstanding, please, can you guys just get someone that can understand me, please!” Aurora shouted.

As for those who had surrounded her, all of them wore strange clothes, each with a weapon in hand. If they were all as troublesome as the first, then it would be bad news.

One of the men charged forward, jumping at her. Immediately, she started to swirl her hand, hitting the warrior in the stomach and sending him flying back.

“I don’t want to hurt anyone; can someone just come that can understand me!”

All Aurora could do in this strange land was defend herself from the countless people that were attacking her. However, the more she used her magic, even she could tell the situation was getting worse.

More warriors were starting to appear, and eventually, she would run out of mana.

“What do I do, what do I do? Won’t anyone please help me!” Aurora almost wanted to collapse and fall to her knees. Both of her hands were held out, and she had knocked out several of the warriors already.

She made sure not to use too much magic to kill them because she had no idea what political mess this would put her and her brother in.

“Stop!” A voice shouted out.

Immediately, the others turned around, and when they saw who it was, they bowed down their heads.

“We greet the Crimson Crane!”

Aurora’s hands were starting to fall, but she kept one up, pointed outward at the sudden involvement of a dark-skinned woman. It was clear because of her they had all stopped attacking, but if someone of importance arrived, then maybe it meant they were far stronger as well.

“Can you understand me?” Aurora asked, hoping this important figure would know Alterian.

“What did she say?” Alba shouted.

Hearing non-Alterian, Aurora was ready to lose hope.

“Don’t worry, I can understand you,” a voice said.

Aurora’s eyes lit up as she understood the words that had come out, the words that were

spoken. When she turned, she could see an orange-haired girl speaking.

“It’s okay… you must have been frightened, right?” Charlotte said. “We’ll take you

somewhere safe, where the situation can be dealt with.”

Reports had come in about what had been seen at the restaurant. As the reports traveled, the town of Flendon was made aware of what type of powers were being used. Hearing the

powers, they oddly felt like it was similar to what had been seen before.

And there was a guess that there was a high chance that this was magic. No one thought Alter would be foolish enough to attack the way the attacks had occurred. So Charlotte thought, what if it was someone from Alterian?

Otherworlders would still be coming into the world of Pagna, and without Alter doing their usual job of helping those Otherworlders, then what would happen to them?

“Come on, I’ll take you in… we’ll meet Raze and see what he wants to do.”

“Raze…” Aurora repeated as her eyes felt weak.
