Bab 1142 Trio Kuat
“There are just two places you absolutely need to protect to avoid instant death,” she continued. Then, without hesitation, she placed her fingertip against his forehead and then moved down, tapping lightly against his chest.
Simyon’s face turned red as he felt her slender fingers brush against his skin. He swallowed hard, willing himself to focus.
“Alright… you can trust me!” Simyon declared, clenching his fists.
At that moment, the tornado of wind fully dissipated, and the battlefield came into full view.
The sight before them was nothing short of chaos. Countless demonic warriors clashed with powerful Qi, energy flashing as the two forces collided. In the distance, a massive golem in the shape of a dinosaur rampaged through the battlefield, swatting away fighters as if they were mere insects.
However, one detail stood out above all the rest. Among the fallen warriors, many had been killed in the same gruesome fashion—heads completely obliterated. The culprit behind these brutal deaths was none other than the man responsible for the exploding attacks.
“Behind me!” Simyon shouted.
“To the left!” Safa instructed.
The three of them moved quickly, sticking close together. As golems approached from ahead, Liam wasted no time. He dashed forward, his blades flashing in the light as he carved through their legs, cutting them down before they could close the distance. He wasn’t trying to kill them outright—just disabling them so they couldn’t give chase.
“Front block!” Safa shouted.
With all his might, Simyon launched himself in front of her, activating his lightning-infused hardened body. He tucked in his head and raised his forearms in a defensive stance.
A deafening bang echoed through the battlefield.
Pain seared through Simyon’s hands, and he clenched his teeth as he felt the familiar sensation of his flesh being torn apart. Pieces of his forearms had been blasted away, but his body had done its job—he had survived.
Despite the immense pain, he was still standing. The damage was roughly the size of a bullet wound, which was far better than having his head blown off entirely.
Safa had seen the attack coming. She had anticipated it being aimed at her, but she trusted in Simyon’s ability to take the hit and in her own skills to heal him afterward. Out of everyone, he was the one she believed in the most.
From a distance, the man responsible for the attack narrowed his eyes.
‘Even if he managed to block the attack in time, that should have destroyed his arms completely… yet he only suffered minor damage? Not even Pagna warriors have bodies this strong. How is he different from the others?’ Garlon thought, his curiosity piqued.
“Are we safe?” Simyon asked, still holding his arms up in a defensive stance.
“For now,” Safa answered. “He’s attacking in other directions. But if he targets us again, you need to listen carefully to what I say.”Tanpa ragu, Safa mengarahkan tombak Lux-nya ke luka Simyon. Cahaya hangat menyelimuti Simyon, dan hampir seketika, luka-lukanya lenyap. Seolah-olah ia tidak pernah terluka sebelumnya.Sementara itu, Liam sama sekali tidak diam. Ia melemparkan salah satu pedangnya, tepat mengenai kepala seorang golem.

Chapter 1143 Wrong Choice
The three continued to push through the battlefield, moving according to Safa’s rapid instructions. She was giving orders faster than before because she had realized something—by now, they should have reached the Deleter.
The battlefield was large, but it felt as if they were running in circles. That could only mean one thing: the enemy was aware of their movements. He was watching them, manipulating the situation to stay one step ahead. If he was in control, then how could they ever reach him?
The only option was to take risks—move faster, press further, and go directly toward the source of the attacks. Things had been going well so far, with Simyon blocking the oncoming strikes while Safa healed him. But then, the ground beneath them began to shift.
As Liam brought his sword down, slicing a golem cleanly in half, a tremor rippled through the battlefield. A deep, jagged fissure cracked open in front of them, the earth splitting apart.
Just like before.
This was the same kind of fissure that had appeared before the golems first emerged. And right on cue, a surge of them began clawing their way out of the crevice.
Most retained humanoid forms, their bodies constructed from hardened earth, but among them were beast-like golems—larger, more monstrous, and infinitely more dangerous. Without hesitation, they charged at the trio.
Liam acted first. He leapt into the air, landing atop one of the beast golems. With precision, he drove his sword deep into its head. Before it could react, he pulled his weapon free and hurled it toward another creature rushing at Safa. The blade struck true, piercing through the golem’s chest, causing it to crumble into pieces. He landed lightly on his feet, immediately preparing for the next attack.
“To my right!” Safa shouted, her hand still pressed to her temple. She longed to join the fight, to wield her Lux spear, but she couldn’t afford to lose focus. Finding their true enemy was the priority.
Simyon rushed into position, raising his arm to block the incoming attack. His forearm erupted in pain as it was struck once more. At the same time, a golem barreled into him, its massive fist slamming against his hardened body. But Simyon wasn’t one to simply take a hit.
Roaring with effort, he countered, delivering a devastating punch that shattered the golem into fragments, sending shards of earth flying in all directions.
“These things are getting really annoying!” he growled.
Before he could recover, a beast golem lashed its tail across his stomach, hitting him with enough force to send him skidding across the ground.
Unlike the others, this one was stronger.
But Simyon wasn’t one to stay down. Gritting his teeth, he activated the magic in his glove, gripping the golem’s tail as ice formed across it. With his free hand, he smashed down, shattering the frozen appendage.
At that exact moment, Safa sensed the Deleter’s magic shifting again.
“It’s on you!” she shouted.
“What does that mean?” Simyon barely had time to think before searing pain shot through his leg. His knee buckled, nearly sending him to the ground. When he looked down, his breath hitched—blood dripped from his shin, a chunk of flesh missing.
The same kind of wound as before.
“Simyon!” Safa called out, raising her spear. Her instinct was to heal, but before she could cast her magic, a wave of golems surrounded her, blocking her path.
Liam was too occupied fending off the others to intervene this time.
They were being overwhelmed.
Simyon gritted his teeth, forcing himself to keep moving. He had no choice—he had to keep fighting. As he prepared for another strike, another blast struck him, this time hitting his already injured leg. His body jerked, but he forced himself to remain standing.
Then, another blow. A golem’s fist crashed into his face, sending him reeling backward. His arms, still raised in a defensive stance, had taken most of the impact, but the sheer force rattled him.
“You think that’s enough?!” Simyon roared. Gathering his strength, he lifted his good leg and delivered a crushing kick, obliterating the golem in front of him. Without stopping, he activated his lightning-infused body, darting through the battlefield.
One golem.
Then another.
Each one crumbled as he tore through them, pushing himself beyond his limits.
But then—
That same pain.
This time, worse.
His leg nearly gave out beneath him, and when he glanced down, his stomach twisted. The wound had deepened—he could see exposed flesh.
His body, his hardened defenses—they weren’t enough.
Simyon collapsed onto one knee, struggling to stay upright.
“SIMYON!” Safa screamed.
Light erupted from her spear, a swirling blend of Qi and magic. It was the same combination of power Raze had used before. With a single swing, she severed the head of a golem, its body disintegrating instantly.
She rushed toward Simyon, sliding to her knees beside him. His arms were still shielding his head, tucked tightly against his chest.
More golems surged forward. Safa swung her spear again, releasing a blast of pure light magic. The force sent the creatures tumbling backward, their bodies breaking apart as the energy tore through them.
“I’ll heal you right away!” she declared, lowering her spear toward his leg.
But she had made a mistake.
For the first time, she had removed her hand from her temple.
Her focus had been on healing Simyon—not on the enemy still lurking in the distance.
“Safa, no!” Simyon shouted. Without thinking, he moved his arm in front of her face, shielding her. He couldn’t see the attacks coming, but based on the pattern so far, they would be aimed at him again.
But what if this time they weren’t?
What if the entire strategy had been a ruse—forcing Safa to expose herself?
Simyon didn’t hesitate. He extended his arm away from his own head, covering hers instead.
From afar, Garlon couldn’t suppress his grin.
“Wrong choice, kid.”

Chapter 1144: Simyon and Safa, Protection
The words Raze had spoken echoed in Simyon’s mind—he needed to protect Safa at all costs.
But the truth was, he didn’t need Raze to tell him. He would have done it of his own will, without hesitation. No matter what happened, he would keep her safe.
When she ran to his side, he instinctively placed his hands around her head, shielding her without thinking of his own safety. It left him completely exposed.
The deafening bang that had become all too familiar rang through the battlefield once again. Safa barely had time to process what was happening when a splatter of crimson shot past her face.
Simyon’s head jerked violently to the side, as if struck by an invisible hammer. His entire body followed the motion, flung across the ground before hitting the hard floor with a sickening thud.
Safa’s eyes widened in horror as she saw him lying there, blood pooling from the top of his skull, his body unmoving.
“Simyon… Simyon… Simyon!” she screamed at the top of her lungs, her voice cracking with pure desperation.
Not long after, Liam came skidding across the floor, arriving just in time to see Simyon’s battered form. He extended a hand, about to say something—when suddenly, a powerful force erupted from within Safa.
A sphere of glowing light magic expanded outward, encompassing everything around them. The moment the energy engulfed Simyon, his wounds began to close at an unnatural speed. The blood stopped flowing, flesh mended itself, and the open wound on his skull started sealing right before their eyes.
‘I can see it with my system—Simyon is still alive!’ Liam thought, his heart racing. ‘But this power… This is all her doing, right? She must have thought he was dead. I need to tell her that dumb guy is still breathing before she burns herself out!’
Just as Liam was about to shout, movement in the corner of his vision caught his attention. He barely had time to react before a massive golem’s tail came crashing down toward him. He leapt back, barely dodging in time.
When he looked behind him, his stomach dropped. Every single golem he had taken down moments ago… was back on its feet.
‘No way… Don’t tell me this is Safa’s doing too?!’
Diving to avoid another strike, Liam felt a searing pain as a golem’s blade nicked his arm. But the pain quickly vanished, replaced by a soothing warmth. He looked down—his wound was healing. Right in front of his eyes, the cut sealed itself as if it had never been there.
‘Wait a second… This power—it’s not just healing them, it’s healing us too!’ Liam realized. ‘The light magic is so strong, it’s almost like anything inside this energy field is… immortal.’
Testing his theory, Liam drove his sword straight through the chest of a golem. The attack was clean, precise—but the creature barely staggered before standing firm once more. Liam’s brows furrowed.
‘So it works on them, but it works on us too… This magic… how much energy is she using to maintain it?’
As if answering his question, Simyon stirred. His head lifted from the ground, and he found himself staring into Safa’s tear-filled eyes.
“Safa… all of this… it’s you?” Simyon asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
“I don’t want you to die… I don’t want anyone else to die!” Safa sobbed, collapsing into his chest, her body shaking.
Simyon wrapped his arms around her, his grip firm. He held her as tightly as he could, his fingers digging into the fabric of her clothes.
Watching from a hidden vantage point, Garlon’s lips curled into an intrigued smirk.
‘This level of light magic… it’s unheard of. Not only is she an exceptional talent, but she possesses the God Eyes as well—a rare, unique trait,’ he mused.
To test the limits of her power, Garlon casually raised a hand. With a flick of his fingers, a golem’s head exploded into fragments—but before the pieces could even hit the ground, the creature regenerated instantly, as if nothing had happened.
‘So, it really is absolute. Anything within this barrier of hers is invincible… for now.’
His gaze flickered back to Safa. ‘But… such an ability is consuming an immense amount of energy. No matter how talented she is, this level of magic won’t last forever. When it ends… she’ll be the first to fall.’
Meanwhile, Simyon cradled Safa in his arms, feeling the warmth of her body—except, her skin wasn’t warm at all. It was cold. Ice cold.
‘She’s suffering…’ Simyon realized. ‘This has to be like Qi. The more she pushes herself, the more it’s damaging her.’
His fingers brushed against her cheek, his grip tightening. ‘This much magic… it’s not good for her body. She’s… dying.’
“She’s dying!” Liam suddenly shouted. Though he was still fighting off golems, he kept looking back, his panic rising. “I know I talk a lot of crap, but I wouldn’t lie about this! My system is telling me—her heartbeat is slowing down! If she keeps this up, she’s going to die! DO SOMETHING!”
A decision had to be made.
Simyon made it.
He gently placed his forehead against Safa’s. “Safa… thank you for everything. And please, when you wake up… tell Raze thank you for me.”
Tears streamed down his face as he whispered, “He allowed me to live a good life. I could never protect my sister… I can’t go back and fix the past. But this time, I won’t live with regret. This time, I’ll protect you.”
Safa barely had time to process his words before she felt a sudden, sharp impact at the back of her neck.
Her consciousness faded instantly. The powerful magic barrier shattered like glass, vanishing into nothingness.
Before she could collapse, Simyon caught her. He held her tightly, securing her in his arms. Then, with his ice-gloved hand, he froze them together—binding her safely to him.
A dark, amused voice cut through the silence. “So… you’ve chosen to protect her.”
Garlon stepped forward, eyes gleaming with eerie confidence. “But it’s useless. We’ve already seen how this ends. All of you will perish. We cannot lose.”
A fresh explosion of pain erupted in Simyon’s skull. Another hit to the head. Then another. And another. Blood poured down his face, but his grip on Safa never loosened.
Again and again, he was struck. His consciousness wavered, but his resolve never faltered. He would not let go. He would not fail.
His body was battered. His breathing slowed. His skin turned cold.
But still…
He held on.

Chapter 1145: No Regrets
The moment the barrier collapsed, Liam knew. He had just stabbed a golem through the chest, sending it flying through the air. As it crashed to the ground, its body crumbled, and for the first time, it didn’t heal. It remained broken, lifeless.
This should have been a good sign. But for Liam, it only filled him with dread. His eyes darted toward Safa, where he saw a man holding onto her, shielding her completely with his body.
“No, no, no!” Liam shouted, his voice raw with emotion.
He surged forward, swinging his swords wildly, his strikes more reckless than ever. The battlefield was still crowded with golems, blocking his path. He moved with urgency, narrowly avoiding strikes from jagged, earth-formed weapons that sliced at his skin, leaving deep cuts along his arms and legs.
None of them were fatal, but the accumulation of injuries slowed him down. His body was bleeding freely, and yet he never stopped pushing forward, his mind clouded by a singular thought.
Each time he heard the dreaded bang of an explosion, his heart clenched, his breath hitched, and he forced himself to keep moving.
‘Why… why did Raze have to say that before!’ Liam gritted his teeth, anger and regret boiling inside him. ‘Telling Simyon not to die—that was a damn death flag if I’ve ever heard one!’
But as much as he wanted to blame Raze, his rage was directed elsewhere.
‘No… the biggest idiots were us!’ Liam screamed in his head, the thought spilling into his voice as he unleashed a massive Qi-infused strike, sending a cluster of golems flying.
‘We were the ones who told Raze to go! None of us said anything to him, none of us told him that it was fine, that we could handle things without him. And now look what happened the moment he left…
‘Simyon, why… was there really no other way?!’
His body burned from exhaustion as he finally reached Safa and Simyon. Blood had soaked into the fabric of Simyon’s clothes, trailing down his shoulders in thick rivulets. His hands were locked around Safa, frozen in place by a thick layer of ice, a desperate attempt to keep her safe.
Liam’s gaze traveled across Simyon’s body, covered in deep wounds and bruises. His face was barely recognizable beneath the blood and swelling. But what crushed Liam the most was the notification flashing in his system—the confirmation of what had already been decided.
Simyon was gone.
“ARGHHH!” Liam roared, his frustration spilling out as he continued cutting down the endless golems swarming them.
Maybe—just maybe—if they had only faced one Deleter, they could have handled the situation. But their search for answers had brought them the attention of two. The relentless wave of golems signified that another was monitoring their movements, ensuring they would be overwhelmed.
Even with all his skill, Liam couldn’t carve a path fast enough. He was fighting tooth and nail just to keep the golems from reaching them, unable to do anything more.
Safa, meanwhile, was slowly regaining consciousness. Her eyelids fluttered open, her vision blurry. She could still feel a tight grip holding her in place, an unusual warmth pressing against her back.
‘What… what is this feeling? And this smell… it’s Simyon. He did something. He was protecting me.’
Her breathing hitched as she realized she couldn’t move. His grip was too strong. She tried shifting her head, but she was completely locked in place.
Then her eyes landed on the ground beneath her.
The dirt was dark—soaked in red. The blood was fresh, still dripping.
“Simyon… let go of me… it’s okay. I can stop the attacks myself. You don’t have to get hurt. Just… let go!”
Safa didn’t want to use her Qi to force herself free, fearing she might hurt him in the process. But her panic was rising. He wasn’t responding.
A deafening explosion rang out again.
This time, the blast was aimed directly at the ice encasing Simyon’s hands. The frozen bonds shattered into pieces, tearing fragments of his limbs apart along with them.
As the last of the ice fell away, his body lurched forward, collapsing lifelessly onto the dirt.
Safa was free. But all she could do was stare in horror at Simyon’s unmoving form.
“Simyon… Simyon… SIMYON!”
Her heart pounded violently against her chest. She had just gone through this—hadn’t she just saved him? Hadn’t she just brought him back?
Then why… why was he lying there again?
Dropping to her knees beside him, she grabbed her Lux Spear and poured every ounce of magic she had into his body. But nothing happened.
No light. No energy. No sign of healing.
“Come on, come on!” she screamed. “No, Simyon! No, no, no!”
She desperately channeled more magic, but it was useless. There was no response.
Images of their time together flashed through her mind. The first time they met at the orphanage, how he had approached her and talked to her before she could even say a word. Their laughter, their teasing, the countless moments they had shared, side by side.
They had come so far. They had made it through so much. And now… now they were supposed to reach Raze, to see this through together.
But Simyon was gone.
“NOOOOO!” Safa screamed, her voice breaking under the weight of her anguish.
Garlon observed the scene from afar, an amused glint in his eye. “Now… it’s time for you to lose your life as well, little lady.”
He casually flicked his fingers, sending a deadly spell hurtling toward Safa. She was too distracted, too broken to react in time.
The attack was just about to strike—until a figure landed between them, blocking the magic entirely.
A powerful force erupted, consuming the spell entirely. The magic dissipated into nothing.
Safa’s eyes widened as she looked up.
A familiar face stood in front of her, wielding a gourd, its contents draining away the magic that had been meant to kill her.
“Come on!” Fing shouted, his stance unwavering. “Tell me where that bastard is—because I’m going to rip every part of his body apart!”

Chapter 1146: Death With A Smile
Deep emotions were pouring out of Safa, and the entire time she was unaware of what was happening around her. She continued to just focus on Simyon, trying to use whatever magic she could to heal him.
Using the Lux spear and more. She didn’t even know that she had just been saved from near death herself, or the fact that there was a certain Neverfall Clan member by her side.
That was until he had rushed over and, with one hand, picked her up by the sleeve of her shirt. Her legs dangling in the air, tears still dropping from her face.
“Tell me now, tell me where he is. I’ve been watching you, you’ve been tracking him, right? So tell me where he is!” Fing screamed at Safa.
In a way, Fing knew what she was going through, as he had just lost his dear brother as well, but he had time to get over the sadness, the void, and the reality of the situation that felt like it was constantly swirling.
Now that he was back in reality, the only emotion that filled him was anger.
“Tell me where he is!” Fing lifted his hand and slapped her with the back of it. “Crying isn’t going to do anything, so tell me now where he is.”
Somehow, a small portion of Fing’s words had gotten through to her. She was following what he was saying. She lifted her hand and tapped the side of her head.
She then pointed in a particular direction, and immediately Fing lifted up his gourd. He could feel a strange power enter into it, turning into the energy source he needed.
As soon as he got the direction he needed, he let go, dropping Safa onto the ground. Using all of his strength, Fing then jumped in the direction where Safa had pointed.
Right after, Rayna landed on the ground. She looked back at Safa for a moment, as well as what was next to her, but with a grunt, she decided to go after her brother.
“Fing, wait!” Rayna shouted.
Moments later, she had jumped off in the same direction as Fing, leaving Safa on her knees looking at Simyon. She looked on the ground, trying to find her spear. She had touched the floor a few times, even missing where it was. The moment she lifted it up, she then turned to try and find Simyon again, and dropped the spear onto the floor.
Quickly she picked it up again and located the body.
When she found his body, her eyes lit up, and she rushed over to where Simyon was. Her footsteps were heavy, ready to place the spear on top of him, until a hand reached out—a dark-covered, almost purple gauntlet held onto the spear.
“Safa… don’t do this to yourself. It’s only going to hurt you more.”
When Safa looked up to see who was speaking, she saw that it was Dame. Someone who was relatively close to them all. He had trained them during their time at the academy and more.
He had a special connection with the three of them.
“Safa… you should be able to tell it’s a lost cause, and I know it’s hard to hear, but there is nothing we can do.”
Dame had been following Fing and his sister to help them on their journey to find Garlon and get revenge, but after seeing this on the battlefield, Dame had to stop. He truly had to.
He knelt down, and both he and Safa stayed by Simyon’s side. Dame started to remember when he trained with Simyon, hitting him all those times to create one of the strongest bodies in Pagna.
They had been through a lot together to get to this point.
“He trained himself really hard every day. I can’t imagine anyone else going through what he had been through. He even told me about when he first received the Cursed Earring from Raze—the torture he experienced.
“In the end, he did all of that so he could be a shield, and it looks like it worked. His shield ended up protecting you, Safa. Although it’s hard to see the top of his face, you should look at his mouth.”
Safa had to wipe away her heavy tears as she looked at Simyon once more. The top half of his head was certainly too bloody, but his mouth—both ends were raised.
“He’s smiling,” Safa said.
“Right. I’ll be honest with you. In my time in the Demonic Faction, I have seen many pass away, and I’ve heard the expression before, but I have never seen someone pass away like this. Their faces filled with pain, their faces filled with regret, their faces filled with anger.
“For me, this is the first time I have seen someone with a smile on their face as they move on. He was truly happy that he managed to protect you, Safa… so don’t waste your power, don’t waste this opportunity. You need to take it and fight for him.”
Safa gripped her spear tightly. Dame’s words had made her somewhat at peace, but it was hard to forget so soon. It still hurt. She just needed to focus on those emotions and turn them around.
“The Deleters are dangerous. We knew that… This is why Alter must be stopped at all costs, and we need to get rid of every single one of them,” Dame said as he banged his two gauntlets together, and ripples of purple energy spread out to the side.
“Liam, take Simyon’s body back. Make sure no one messes with it. He needs a peaceful death. I’m sure you know how important this is!” Dame shouted.
Liam didn’t crack any jokes. He didn’t disregard the order or believe that he should still be fighting. Instead, he followed the orders and immediately placed Simyon’s body on his shoulder.
“I lost a dear friend today… and I’m going to use everything I can to take him out!” Dame shouted.
As his purple gauntlets started to glow.

Chapter 1147: Wind And Space
Fing landed in the middle of one of the areas where heavy battle was taking place, between demonic clan members and the countless number of golems.
It was the direction where Safa had pointed. Quickly, Fing looked around, in one hand he held his sword, in the other he held the gourd firmly in place.
He only scanned the area for a few seconds, before he leapt up in the air, and poured all of his Qi into his sword. With his other hand free, he then drank from the gourd, giving him a boost in energy.
The area around Fing started to turn incredibly dark, and everyone could feel an intense heat coming from above. This was Fing’s visual Qi that was starting to act up.
“Found you!”
Fing dived through the air, all of his attack pointed at one person in Pagna clothing. A man wearing a hood who was stood next to another large group of people.
“What is he doing, is he attacking us!” Some of the members shouted in fear, and started to run away, all apart from Fing’s target.
The man that stayed stationary flung his hands in the air, and before Fing reached the floor, a powerful large explosion had occurred, clashing with his Qi.
There was no smoke, it felt like an invisible power causing ripples. It had stopped Fing’s attack straight in its tracks, and he fell to the floor, now looking at his opponent.
His hood had blown off, revealing his face. It was an older gentleman with straight hair by its side, a heavy grey beard, but all of it was neatly kept and looked after.
It didn’t fit the typical look of a Pagna warrior.
“You found me, even with that girl’s help, she isn’t with you now, so you knew who I was among all of those people, I wonder how?” Garlon asked.
“When you have fought as many fights as I have, gone through as much as I have, you learn a few things,” Fing said. “You stayed far back, looking as if you were getting involved or helping, but the entire time your body was pointed towards me, ready for if I was to attack, you made it too obvious!”
Rayna had soon landed by her brother’s side, she had her special boots equipped and the spear in her hand as she looked ahead.
Her and her brother had one thing in common right now, a common goal, both of them wanted to get rid of the Deleter who had taken their brother away.
Both of them prepared themselves ready for the battle that was to take place.
“This is going to be interesting,” Garlon said as he placed both hands in the air and pointed it towards both of their feet.
A blast erupted in the air, completely silent, yet its force shattered the stone ground beneath them. Fing barely managed to twist his body, rolling away as the shockwave sent cracks racing across the battlefield.
Rayna, standing firm with her spear planted in the ground, remained unmoved. Her special boots absorbed the force of the blast, keeping her locked in place even as debris flew past her face. But she could see the real problem—there was no warning, no sound, no trace of where the next explosion would come from.
It wasn’t a typical explosion that they would face, without seeing it, it was hard to even know what to block or when to brace oneself.
Garlon was a wind and space mage. He stood just a few meters away, his tattered robes flapping wildly in the air despite the lack of wind. Now he had been discovered, he was going to use his powers to the fullest.
His long, thin fingers traced circles in the air, and each time he did, another invisible burst detonated somewhere in their vicinity.
Explosions were going off close to them, and loud bangs were heard to the left and right.
“Damn it, where is he targeting?” Fing gritted his teeth, rolling back up to his feet. He unscrewed the lid of his gourd, letting its energy siphon the lingering magic from the explosion that had just rattled him. Even if he couldn’t see them, he could feel their power.
Taking a quick swig, he felt his body surge with temporary strength, his muscles growing heavier with power.
“We can’t even see the attacks coming,” Rayna muttered, gripping her spear tighter. “I’ll try to rush him down.”
Fing nodded, knowing that if anyone could push forward, it was her. With those boots, Garlon wouldn’t be able to knock her away—if she could get close, she might be able to land a strike.
Rayna took a deep breath and then launched herself forward, dashing across the battlefield like a streak of silver. Her spear whirled, spinning in her grasp as she thrust forward—
Another explosion detonated just before she reached Garlon.
She skidded to a stop, spear raised to block, but the force of the air pressure was unbearable. Her arms shook as she held her stance.
The ground cracked beneath her boots, but they held her steady. She was completely immobile.
That was exactly what Garlon had been waiting for.
Another explosion erupted right at her feet.
The force smashed into her entire body, sending shockwaves through her muscles, rattling her bones. But she didn’t move—she couldn’t. Her boots kept her locked in place, but that only meant she had to bear the full brunt of the impact. A sharp pain ran through her ribs, and for the first time in the fight, she gasped.
“Rayna!” Fing shouted.
He moved, fast, trying to close the distance, but Garlon was faster.
With a flick of his wrist, another explosion tore through the space between them. Fing barely managed to block with his sword, the impact numbing his arms. He staggered back, reaching for his gourd and taking another swig, hoping to balance the power coursing through his body.
Garlon’s lips curled into a wicked grin. “You’re both wasting your time. You fight against something you cannot see—an enemy who strikes from nowhere. Surrender.”
Rayna coughed, wiping blood from the corner of her mouth. Her grip on the spear tightened. “Not happening.”
Garlon raised both hands, fingers curling as he activated his most devastating spell yet. Space twisted and distorted around them, a sudden force pulling in from all directions.
Rayna and Fing felt it instantly—the air around them was vanishing. It was like being caught inside an invisible dome, their lungs struggling against the weight of the spell. It wasn’t just an explosion this time.
He was collapsing space itself.
Fing’s knees buckled. Rayna gritted her teeth. This wasn’t something they could block. It was everywhere.
A deep hum resonated through the battlefield, an explosion ready to go off at any moment.
With a flash, both of them were grabbed, lifted up, and moved. Just seconds later, and the entire battlefield lit up in an explosion, destroying a large part of the ground.
The attack was devastating, but it hadn’t hit their target, because instead another one was holding them under his arms.
“Safa, you heal both of them. I will deal with this one,” Dame said.
